Invisible Children's money supports the Ugandan Army and other military forces. Both the Ugandan army and Sudan People’s Liberation Army are riddled with accusations of rape and looting, but Invisible Children defends them anyways.

Foreign Affairs has claimed that Invisible Children (among others) “manipulates facts for strategic purposes, exaggerating the scale of LRA abductions and murders and emphasizing the LRA’s use of innocent children as soldiers, and portraying Kony — a brutal man, to be sure — as uniquely awful, a Kurtz-like embodiment of evil.” Basically, the group is just exaggerating so many things to capture the public eye.

Apparently, this has been going on for years. So why is this coming into focus now? If these people genuinely felt the need to help the cause, they would've made the video ages ago. I seriously doubt that sharing the video and buying merchandise to help support the cause will make any difference. Keep in mind that you are not supporting the cause, you are supporting the Ugandan military. Keep the focus on Joseph Kony himself, not KONY 2012.

....show me where Uganda is on this map. This is just a fashion thing, like YOLO, and Temple Run. Next week something else will pop up.

I believe that's where it is. It's not surprising tbh that this drama is happening there. If you look at the other countries surrounding Uganda they all have issues of their own, and major issues at that. Somalia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, etc.

Certain parts of the world will always have unrest and a lack of control, this is definately one of them.

This just seems to be another case of the White Man's Burden. We should not be made to feel guilty for something that is not remotley our fault.

You're on a computer right now, so i'm assuming you're rather privileged, so of course its easy for you to say something like this. We are all human and have to share this planet. I personally think its great to spread awareness.
