Post: Life plans

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Basically this thread is here for people to talk about not only their goals in life but how they plan on achieving them as well. It's easy to say "I'm going to get a job that makes good money and live a upper middle class life" but having a step by step plan to do it is what makes it happen. Sure you can be one of the "now"ers (someone who only lives for the "now" hence the name) and get lucky in the future, but personally I believe that with the right amount of determination and meticulous planning, any goal is achievable.

So what are your plans for the future? Can be short term (2-5 years) or long term (5> years), and if you believe that you can give advice to someone else in this thread because of your knowledge in a certain field, please don't restrain from giving that advice.

As soon as i'm out of highschool I want to take the border patrol test as it's a good paying job. I want to go to college as soon as i'm done with training for that and after college for who knows what i'll transfer to a bigger agency such as the CIA. I hate seeing cops abusing powers, i'd rather be a good guy cop that people look up to.

I'm going to get the florida bright future scholarship, go to UF or Ave Maria (Ave maria if I get a football scholarship) and major in political science. I'm planning on staying 5 years and getting a masters.
From there I'm going to get a law degree, at either UF or Ave Maria Law School.
After that, I'm planing on being in a law firm for about 10 years.
From there I'm going into a small government position, anything from mayor to state representative, hopefully.

Grumpy
Grumpy is God.
Fairly young at the moment but I guess I would try to write it all out, I mean of course this is not set in stone by any means but I will try.

First I plan on finishing highschool at one of the two private schools in my city as the Public Schools all completely suck ass > Next I plan on going into The University of Alabama for my first four years > From there I would like to go to my secondary collage which depending on what I want to do either Dentistry or Law (A similar route a .Solo. on NGU hopefully.) > Then from there on get a successful high paying job > I want a wife, two kids and just to be able to relax and enjoy life.

Side Note: I have also been contemplating going into Technology and trying to work for like Apple, IBM etc. Cause those are very high paying jobs and I have always been a geek for Technology and have been interested in it my whole entire life. :y:

**** my Toaster !~!
Right now I am currently taking online college classes.. I hope to get my bachelors in computer science. I hope to get into software engineering. Then I would like to get my masters in computer science.

I fear that I am behind though. I do not know a-lot about programming at the moment. So when I see younger members on here who know a-lot about programming I feel like a failure or something.

Because of this I am uncertain about my plans for my life.

Well, since I'm still in high school, I'm taking a forensic science class. I always wanted to be at those crime scenes and figure out what happened here, a little like sherlock holmes. That's my short term, the long term is a bit blurry for me right now.
:(

I'm currently a Senior in highschool and have just recently (withing the past few years) taken on the interest of Web Design and Web Scripting. I'm currently in a Web Scripting class right now at my school and have learned quite a bit. I'm pretty knowledgeable in HTML, CSS, and PHP right now.

I plan on going to the University of Missouri - Columbia (also known as Mizzou) as I live 10 minutes away from Campus and they offer a pretty good curriculum in Computer Science which is what I plan on getting my Bachelor in. After that, I hope to find a small business somewhere close that is in the Web Designing/coding area and grow from there.

We'll just have to see how it goes though. Smile

Don't let what others think or can achieve affect what you really want to do. I have several people in my class that know WAY more about web coding than I do but that's the whole point about taking this class, so that I can learn and improve my skills. Just because you may not have a lot of knowledge in programming right now doesn't mean you can't learn more yourself if your spare time. :y: Also, when you major in something in College you don't necessarily have to know a ton about that subject. The whole point of College is to teach you and improve those skills. Smile

Pichu
RIP PICHU.
Well, I just had my plans to go to a state college right out of High School go out the door. The college I was hoping to attend "lost" my transcript and refuse to accept a new one because it is past the due date.

Now instead, I am going to a JR College for a year and will attempt a transfer. Going to be taking majoring/minoring in Criminal Justice and Computer Science. While in college, I will be attempting to join the explorers program at the local sheriffs, California Baby. :P. After college, I want to go to a police academy and become a police officer and try and work my way into the cyber portion of law enforcement and eventually work my way into the FBI.

Was told by a few FBI agents that the whole computer bit of law enforcement for the next 10 years will be massively growing and that if I get in as fast as possible, I could possibly make it.

I think that would be awesome.

Honestly, most of the kiddies don't know a whole lot or don't know how to professional write software. They will teach you that, they however will have a head start on you if you were to be in college, but it doesn't mean that they don't have habits that are bad which can hurt them later on.

Don't be discouraged.

Keepin it real
It's great reading these! As a freshman in highschool currently, I am unsure of what I am going to do in the future. These are helping a great deal! I planned on being an Army or Navy Officer, however, I recently had surgery done on my right arm and I do not have full control of it right now. I am hoping I get better soon and the Army will accept me. I do not have a knack for school right now, hopefully that will change also.

I really don't know what I want to do. I don't know where to even start. Go to UNI? Or get an apprenticeship?
It would be good to even have an idea of what I want to do like you guys have all said :(
