I just wanna hear what NGU thinks about videogames being a source to youth in this generation and violence.
I don't think so, personally. But everybody is wired differently.
Right now I can not look up any information to somewhat educate myself more on the issue. From my previous experiences with the issue I feel that it shouldn't really be blamed for events such as school shootings such as Columbine and Virginia Tech. But I do believe it does have an influence on people to a certain degree. I'm having issues trying to explain what I mean. So I will most likely bring it back up when I have the time to do a little research.
I do feel that video games may be a little more influential on children. But it is up to the child's parents and educational staff to help a child differentiate the difference in-between reality and virtual-reality. I am concerned with the life likeness with newer games, I feel that this could contribute to blame being put on violent video games.
Like driving or owning a weapon especially I think a person's mental health is very important when involved in an active such as playing a violent video game. A person who has schizophrenia already has issues telling the difference in-between reality and what is not real. Imagine a young person with an extreme case of schizophrenia. They find a gun at their house and due to their condition are having a difficult time telling if this is real or Grand Theft Auto. That isn't exactly how the illness works but it is a possibility from my basic understanding.
Right now that is my 2 cents until I can educate myself and develop a more informed opinion about the situation.
