(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I just wanna hear what NGU thinks about videogames being a source of violence to todays youth.
I don't think so, personally. But everybody is wired differently.

I believe video games leading to youth violence and misbehavior is completely false. Yes, kids often get the ideas from the games and media, but it is up to the parents to control this and make it not lead to this behavior. So I believe it's not the games but the parents.

Right now I can not look up any information to somewhat educate myself more on the issue. From my previous experiences with the issue I feel that it shouldn't really be blamed for events such as school shootings such as Columbine and Virginia Tech. But I do believe it does have an influence on people to a certain degree. I'm having issues trying to explain what I mean. So I will most likely bring it back up when I have the time to do a little research.

I do feel that video games may be a little more influential on children. But it is up to the child's parents and educational staff to help a child differentiate the difference in-between reality and virtual-reality. I am concerned with the life likeness with newer games, I feel that this could contribute to blame being put on violent video games.

Like driving or owning a weapon especially I think a person's mental health is very important when involved in an active such as playing a violent video game. A person who has schizophrenia already has issues telling the difference in-between reality and what is not real. Imagine a young person with an extreme case of schizophrenia. They find a gun at their house and due to their condition are having a difficult time telling if this is real or Grand Theft Auto. That isn't exactly how the illness works but it is a possibility from my basic understanding.

Right now that is my 2 cents until I can educate myself and develop a more informed opinion about the situation.

Ever since video games became popular, notable politicians such as Jack Thompson, Joe Lieberman and Hilary Clinton have repeatedly stated that they (the video games, not the politicians, although both are probably true) have caused children and teenagers to become evil criminals bent on the ruination of society. Playing a video game on one of those devil devices for even 5 minutes can turn you into a violent lunatic.

Just to enforce my point I will offer examples.

***Note: This is an incomplete list, probably because I have an incomplete brain. It's a rather short list too. Please commit more crimes so I can expand to this list.***

1918
World War I is allegedly caused by violent video games, and while some video game advocates insist that no actual video games existed the year 1918, Jack Thompson claims that the Russians might have played some Ping Pong.

1942
June 4th - The Battle of Midway was inspired by Japanese and Americans playing too much Silent Hunter 4. The Japanese later blamed their defeat on the fact that a bug in the torpedo-targeting ingame made them miss when they tried shooting in real life. UbiSoft released a patch two weeks later, but it was too late to change the tide of war. The Japanese government sued UbiSoft's parent-company for 12 billion dollars.

1981
June 13th- 34 year old man found beaten to death in an alleyway. Eyewitness claims that the ghosts did it. The only piece of evidence collected was a pink bow.
October 29th - An eight-year-old child in Brooklyn kidnapped a woman and crushed three rescue workers to death with barrels.
November 18th - Three men were arrested for cruelty to animals after running over dozens of frogs with a car.

2004
February 17th - A shrine priestess, a witch, a maid, and a swordswoman run amuck through a small Japanese town firing bullets and knives at everyone around them before being apprehended and sentenced to an asylum.

2005
January 11th - The President's daughter is kidnapped by strange cultists. She is subsequently tortured for 47 hours until the task force assigned to retrieve her arrives and shoots everyone in the head while repeating the mantra "THAT'S WHERE THEY'RE THE WEAKEST!" A diary was found nearby, written on a typewriter, covered in blood and villagers brains. Several herbs were found in the agent's possession, some green, some yellow, some red. When asked about the use of the herbs the delusional agent claimed "If I eat this shit I won't die!"
November 8- A British man with Tourette Syndrome, An anorexic Goth Woman, The Egyptian Pharaoh, An Extremely Gay man, the Grim Reaper, and several others are all arrested after their stage moves caused several guitars to be launched into the audience, injuring several people and killing one man.. When questioned, they all replied the same way- "We were trying to fill up the Star Power".

I noticed I did like 2 seconds after I made the thread, aha.
If you look at the title while in the thread you'll notice it's changed.

Its not video games, its the media, mainstream artists, movies tv shows etc all being mass broadcasted to the world through radio, tv and the internet, yes video games might have a bit of an effect but not as much as other forms of media.
