(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I came across this article and wondered. Sony did release their system before the competition and played catch up do you guys think that releasing the system earlier than the competition would make a difference ? Would it be in Sonys best interest to release their system first ? What are your thoughts ?

Unless they have mass advertising to back it, I don't think releasing the PS4 first would make a huge difference. The way I see it is, you will have to seriously convince an Xbox player to buy a Playstaton/Sony system. One way to achieve this would be mass advertising. Making it impossible for a Microsoft fan not to notice that the PS4 is coming out. Secondly, it would have to be better than the Xbox 720 (or whatever it will be called) and make Xbox players think they would rather that.

Sony would get the first punch in for a new system, but if they do not have a decent line up of games it will amount to nothing. The ps2 and ps3 was plagued by this and will continue to be a problem unless sony focuses on the right games. Perhaps opening the system for some customization(other os) may help the system. So far from what I have read about the system, I seriously doubt it will be popular. Pulling players from the xbox system even more doubtful, as Sony will more likely cause a huge shift of their base to play the new xbox or not at all.

Yes you have a valid point. In the beginning stages Sony sucked at advertising. In fact i think i barely saw any and if i did it was not so good of a job trying to get consumers to spend their money. But recently they have gotten a little better.

I do agree with what you said as well. At launch they had very few titles. I believe at that moment there was only Resistance and a few sports games which were on all platforms. They didn't have anything to stick out to have draw in consumers. Also as you have said it will be pretty tough on converting Xbox players to Sony due to the fact of the fan boy crap.
