(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); My interest right now is to find a decent first car. My problem is that my knowledge is incredibly limited, and I do not have much of a clue where to start. I probably know a few basic things to look for, and could really use some help from somebody who knows a bit more than me Smile I'm getting tired of sharing with my parents, and need some more freedom.

So my budget would be about $3000 tops at the moment, maybe more if I decide to save up more, but I want to try to find one soon for the summer.

I'm mainly using Craigslist because it's easy and helps me steer away from paying expensive dealership prices.

I'm looking for a car, not a truck, jeep, SUV, or anything else, but I don't care if the car is a two or four door. To try and help keep my insurance costs low (as I'm only 16), it would be helpful to not own a two door car or red car, but if its worth it, I'll still buy it.

The cars I mainly looked at are Subaru's because of their reputation for lasting a while and I like the styles of their sedans. The models were the Legacy and Impreza. I went to test drive an '00 Legacy and it wasn't bad, but I want to keep looking to find a good deal.

All I'm asking for are some helpful tips, suggestions, and what to look for when I'm buying, because my dad doesn't know shit. If anyone is actually willing to check Craigslist for me, you could look in Pennsylvania under Lancaster and York counties.

Don't be afraid to turn this into a discussion either! Thanks!

That's a tough price range for a car IMO. You can find beaters for like a grand or two and then decent cars that you would want to care about are closer to 4 grand lol. When I was a kid I just kept buying firebirds and camaros for cheap. I'd check the newspaper in your area too.

get this bomb ass car offer him 2500 You must login or register to view this content.

lmfao man I would buy that thing holy shit for the price lol 5 speed + no rust = run that chit

here's a good deal these cars blue book for like 4 grand. You must login or register to view this content.

there's alot of good deals on cars i think you'll have no problem picking and choosing on craigslist i'm seeing all sorts of good deals.

Just make sure to buy a car with no rust, rust sucks. Look under the car and shit make sure it's not all rusted out and shit. Check the engine make sure you're not getting ripped off with an engine bout to blow. You'd hear it by revvin the engine. Good luck kid

They're not too bad. I've also never learned stick yet because there's no car to train me with, but I could get someone to do it. I'm also trying to stay away from American made cars because their engines seem to give out quicker. Thanks though!

Would anyone insure an RX-7 to a 16 year old? I'd love one as my first car but it isnt very realistic.

You want an engine that will last forever, get a toyota or an old subaru or a diesel. My friend got like a 80's JETTA diesel and it gets like 80 mpg and the engine will last forever.

But lettuce be real tea, I don't think you know where you're getting your info from on american cars. I love my american muscle babeh, especially for you they are cheaper on insurance compared to foreign cars. Most american cars are cheaper than foreign cars anyway. You probably heard they give out quicker because american cars are built with more power and people don't know how to use it I suppose haha.. Anyways, shitty to hear you would rather put money in foreign countries pockets rather than your own countries. peace
