On Saturday, May 26, Larry Vega was bicycling down the MacArthur Causeway in Miami, when he came across a sight that no one should ever see. Vega, witnessed a naked man lying on top of another man, chewing his face.
Vega told the man to get off of the victim, but he continued attacking him.

"The guy was like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, "'Get Off!'" Vega told to a reporter for WSVN-TV. "The guy just kept eating the other guy away, like ripping his skin."
Vega was able to find a police officer and flagged him down. When the officer approached the scene he ordered the attacker to get off the victim. Vega says the attacker raised his head and "growled" at the officer and went back to chew the victims face. The officer shot the attacker once, who continued the horrifying attack. The officer shot him a second time, killing the attacker.
There have not been many details released about the attack. Neither man has been identified, but they do say the victim is believed to be homeless and is in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital with 75% of his face missing. A spokesperson for the hospital said they will not release any information.
Police believe the attacker was on a new potent form of LSD.
Armando Aguilar of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police said, "Whenever we see that a person has taken all of his clothes off and has become violent, it's indicative of this excited delirium that's caused by overdose of drugs. What's happening is, inside their body, their organs are burning up alive."
The Miami Herald released a surveillance video in which the officer Vega flagged down approaches the scene, with several other police cars arriving moments later.
As for Vega, he says he can not get the image out of his head and it is the most gruesome thing he has ever seen in his life. He also says he is considering moving from South Florida.
