So, I left at 9:00am today, going out to do something good for my community...(and also get my graduation community service done).

I went to a place called "MUST Ministries", which has multiple homes type places and give out free food and clothes to the people that need it. Was only there from 10-3, not that hard.


But there was one thing I noticed: People were being stingy...with free stuff. I understand that you might be allergic to something, and thats fine, but for you o deny food because it's "not sliced bread" or "those cookies look old". BITCH THE FOOD JUST CAME FRESH OF THE TRUCK AN HOUR AGO!

One lady had the nerve to scream at me and say "THIS ISN'T ENOUGH FOOD! YOUR BLACK ASS NEEDS TO GO GET MORE" I almost ripped her fucking spine out.

Some people didn't even bother to make eye contact, or a damn thank you. I don't even care if you didn't know how to speak engilsh. At least acknowledge what we are doing here.

Some people are the most ungrateful assholes that dont appreciate anything! These people had to say any of the above is just ridiculous! Only thing stopping me from slapping all of them into realization was that fact that I'd go to jail...


Honestly, if your going to come to a food bank, or whatever you want to call it, where people are volunteering to help you, don't be a bitch.

I never expected anything in return except the community service hours, but when people act like that, and all you are doing is helping them, it makes me wonder why I live in this damn, slowly failing country. (USA)

Seen stuff like this before, can't believe people can be so ignorant, especially in that situation, it's a joke.

A lot of the people who go to those homes are only broke because they'd rather support a drug addict than buy food. I'm not saying everyone in there does that, but a good majority probably do. Some of the people just take it out on you because their life is shitty. They see a young man trying to help them, and they quickly assume that you think you're better than them, and they'll be nasty.

A lot of people are just like that in general regardless of their situation. People will find any reason to treat another human being like shit because they don't know you, and you don't know them, so they can get away with it.

Some people are just shitty with no explanation.

I've been to a soup kitchen in Philadelphia and it was the complete opposite :gluk: Everyone said thanks and was just chill. We even watched the eagles vs. redskins game with them :fyea: One thing I didn't understand was how there were a couple really fat people in a homeless shelter...only america :|

Some have been through a tough time. You really need to relax and know that some of these people could have been abused, or had other people who they trusted hurt them, on the other hand, most are probably drug addicts who don't want to even purchase food.

Granted, they may seem ungrateful, but they have very little social interaction. They can't really express their feelings like you and I. I can see that you are upset about the matter, however it's not something that should bother you too much. They aren't fully educated, and they may not even realize what they are saying. Not only that, but years on the streets doesn't exactly help your brains functionality. I'm not trying to put them down or something, however it is the truth in most instances.

So ignore it, you came there for hours, you left with them. Whether they choose to take the food or not, is not something that should concern you. Although I do feel bad for what happened, and you may feel unwanted or something, just ignore it.

This is why I hate people so much, I have some faith in humanity today. Was leaving Costco and our potatoes fell from our cart, a man saw, picked them up and ran them over to us and gave them back. Little faith restored but this just removed that good act.

Not trying to be an ass but don't you think that if they were there it is not for nothing ? They have more problems than thinking about having an eye contact with you.. They might be used to live being hungry.. They sometimes sleep being hungry... You should prepare for things like that I guess you didn't get paid to do that and I congratulate you for doing it but if you do that kind of things, do not expect anything in return even though thanks and smiles are what you are paid with when do you free things like that ... hope you get my point

A really good thing for you to do bro. To bad the people were being selfish and wouldn't accept what you were doing was to help them out. Last year I did a thing like this with my family for less fortunate kids and they were all very respectful and thanked us many times for what they were doing. They were very polite for the type of lives they had.

I would have been like Huh no thank you. No food for you bitch.

Some didn't even smile. They walked up and handed me their ticket thing.
