Post: Unboxings are the gayest thing on YouTube.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Kind of a rant, but I wanna post it anyway.

First off, let's be honest: Who wants to watch a 15 year old boy unbox a case for his phone? Or a camera that his mommy paid for? Great, you bought a $70 case for you $600 iPhone, wow, women want you. Second of all, you're opening a box. Do you expect us to be like, "WOAH THE SUSPENSE OF YOU OPENING THE BOX IS REALLY RUSTLING MY JIMMIES MAN." Then they feel the need to describe the packaging. It's a box. With shit inside it. Then they ramble for 10 minutes about the product.

Does anyone else feel the same? Or am I the only one with rustled jimmies?

This is really cliche, but why watch those videos if they bother you so much? People watch these videos to find what contents are inside the box.

Let's say you wanted to buy an HD-PVR. You could look up an unboxing video of a regular Hauppauge HD-PVR and find out it doesn't come with all the wires you need, but then you find an unboxing video of a Hauppauge HD-PVR gaming edition and you see that it'll come with all the wires you need. Now you know to get the gaming edition of the Hauppauge HD-PVR rather than the regular one.

If you don't see the point of watching a person open a box, then why the fuck spend your time to watch it? Seriously. I don't get people these days...

In the most part I hate them, but they can be very useful thought. When people do an unboxing/review at the same time that's good.

It really depends on the person doing the unboxing and if it's something I'm interested in. If it gets right to the point and provides some information on the product that is useful I'm all for it. On the other hand if it's some kid just trying show he got a new Iphone case then I just don't even click on it.

Sir
Reeferlution
It really sucks when they have to go Rambo on an adult proof hunk of solid plastic to get to the good stuff.
That really leaves my jimmies in a bunch, especially when I have to deal with it myself.

Yes. Let's say I want to order something but I'm not sure if it comes with this or that, or what else I might need to buy. An unboxing will give me a quick overview of the product, and show me everything that comes with it. They are mostly bad, but if done by the right people can be worth watching.

Most good products will tell you exactly what's in the box. Also if you read the OP even more he talks about them discussing the actual packaging which extends a 3 minute video till 10 minutes so they can talk about the colors and texture of a cardboard box.
