"I could care less" Is really an American thing. In other areas you'll hear it the "proper" way more often.

Yeah some of us Americans like to try and talk fast and take short cuts, and usually if it sounds like the real thing nobody cares. But the thing about it is you're saying the complete opposite of what you really mean.
