They tried to hurry up and leave but all three of us had rifles. When we approached them my grandfather was livid and asked the man "What the hell are you doing?". I sat back and watched with my gun because i had never encountered a situation like this. The man told my grandfather that he was trying to make a "Honest Dollar." They had already stolen my grandmothers freezer and now they came back for the washing machine. The other thief had a gun on him as well, but he was to scared and outnumbered. It was all a rush and I wanted to shoot them when they were trying to escape, but I had forgot to reload. We took their license plate number and told them to never come back. My grandfather is nervous about pressing charges because he owns the farm and they might retaliate, for example lighting the farm on fire and thus we lose all the land and hay we put out for the cows. Also, today, i found out they sent someone else to the farm while we weren't there and they threw a rock on the pitbull that stays there. She was in her cage and has many cuts to her face. Now for the questions. What would of happen if I shot at them while they were trying to flee before we caught them? Should i have shot at them? Should we press charge over something that costs 50 $ or risk them coming back and destroying our million dollar farm. I was pretty nervous to say the least.

You know it really depends, it would best to not take any lives here as hopefully you scared them shitless and they will not be coming around there anymore. But on the other hand if they have been doing this a lot lately I would press charges and contact authorities and maybe see if the cops would be able to set up their own security cameras now on the other hand if they come back maliciously and decide their going to burn something or damage something else seriously or plan on killing someone or something of that matter.

Shoot that ass. It's best not to take lives by all means thats what I believe anyway but thats if possible. It depends on the circumstance. I don't think you should of shot them right there when they were trying to steal that because who knows they might be in a gang or something else and god forbid if they were and members came back to kill you, you would be in deep shit. I would let it pass by if possible you don't want to cause anymore shit than is already started just leave it alone if you can. In fact I'm not sure if I would press charges don't think it would be worth it myself.

Anyway good luck to you and hopefully the whole situation goes by with out any more trouble.

I live in tennessee in the country, these guys were white and looked like they were doing this for a living. They already came back and injured our dog. They hit her with a pretty good size stone. The thing is we don't live there we just go back every other day to check on the cows and they know the area is vacant. Hopefully the police will do something. My arms were shaking when I had that gun in my hand.

you were right not to take his life.. Here's what i would do,
Report them to the authority with detail and if possible a description of what they look like.

But if they come back shoot at them but dont hit them! shoot around just scare them shitless, or hit one of them in the foot if necessary

about your dog. man i'm sorry i fucking hate animal cruelty and just alone for that i think you should beat them with an un-loaded rear end of a gun ( rifle i take it?)..
