Okay when I start up my Playstation sometimes it freezes right away and I have to unplug it. At other times when I put in a game my PS3 lags and I have to restart it which takes it forever. But it does work after either of those things happen. What is the problem?

Hi there,
The only things I could recommend is to safely turn your PS3 off every time you use it, usually all you have to do is hold the PS button and hit turn off system. Never turn it off by the back, this will corrupt the system and its data like it does for me all the time. If that doesn't work, then you may have to do a system format from the recovery menu, but try the first idea before doing this,
Mudkips advice sounds spot on, in the meantime it sounds like youd be best off reformatting the file system in recovery mode anyway just to ensure everythings working correctly. Also check the GAME DATA UTILITY and SAVED DATA UTILITY for any files that might be corrupted and press triangle to see if you can delete them also.

My console did that for a while, it was a b***h, I ended up having to Format the console via the Recovery Menu.
It usually does this on the older Generation of consoles IE the Original ones ( 40GB, 60GB )
Hope this helps though.
Well to both of you it is a slim so turning it off by the back is not the problem. But for awhile where my cords originally were it kepy getting unplugged so I am sure that's what the problem is. I will put all my game files on a USB and file format as well so that way I can ensure it doesn't keep doing it.
