(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well with the arrival of a new year, and thousands of new members, I suppose it's time an old member of the site re-introduce himself so the newer members of our community can become acquainted with a seasoned face of the community.

My name is Cryptic Soldier. I have had many usernames in the past across various sites. Some of those usernames were: -Shadow_Spawn-, Shadow, Dark 7Zeaper, D-0-A, D0A, Edge-1337, and Edge. I am very content with my username as it is right now, and I try to apply it everywhere I visit on the Internet, except the PSN. I'm not changing my username there.

I have been on NextGenUpdate for 3 years now, and I've seen the community grow into what it has become today. I have been here for many good times of the site, and been here for the site for quite a few of it's rough patches. A lot of members have came and gone within my 3 years on here. Most good, a few bad, but there's always one in every crowd.

Little background on myself:
First, Gaming, Hacking, Moderating, Internet Life.

I have significant moderating and administration experience with vBulletin and popular gaming forums from around the Internet. A lot of these sites are sadly no longer in existence, but in their hay-day, they were THE place to be when you needed something for your PSP, or later, the PS3. NextGenUpdate has long since replaced the place that is always in the know and up-to-date on all things Xbox, PS3, and Gaming wise. Some of the old sides I used to run on were PSPCube (deceased), GamingCube (deceased), EverCube (deceased), ISOCube (deceased), GraphicsCube (deceased), TheTechVault (deceased), and many more that I cannot currently think of off the top of my head. My experience in being staff stems back to the PSPCube side of things where I began as a member, and helped the community there flourish. I was promoted to sectional mod, and started rising thought the ranks within the Cube network of sites. Grant it, PSP, Gaming and Ever cube were all one in the same site, with upgrading technology and the focus of modding and hacking switching from the PSP to the PS3, we decided to change the name to incorporate a larger audience of members. I reached the rank of Administrator on EverCube at the time of the site's passing. One of the biggest perks we had at the Cube Network, back when the PSP's were big, was whenever SANiK would make a new version of NitePR, the Cube sites ALWAYS got it first exclusively. SANiK was an original member with us there, and supported us to no end. So much so we always got NitePR first.

I also was a sectional, and later, forum moderator here on NextGenUpdate. I retired due to an increasingly popular social life, a little over a year ago. A decision I made with a heavy heart, but felt was needed for the good of the site due to me not being able to give the site the attention it deserved from myself. I have, however, found another, and quite extensive, amount of free time, and I'm looking to place it back into NextGenUpdate as much as I can.

I like to make quality posts where ever and whenever I can using correct grammar, detailed facts backed up by legit sources, help new members with any problems they may have, locate and post content for the various forums here within the community, and have casual conversations in the Shoutbox with the members.

No one is ever really a stranger here on NGU. Rather today is your first day, or your 10,000th day, to me, you're a friend in gaming.

As for extensive hacking of gaming equipment, my time was when the PSP was big. Before the days of PS3. I still own ALL my PSP's and only one of the 5 are on Official Firmware. Most are on M33 firmware and has SANiK's latest NitePR, which I occasionally fool around with.

My PS3, is mostly a dust collector sadly. I primarily game on my Xbox.

Little personal background:

I'm a country boy from Southern America. Traditional redneck. Pickup driving, country music listening, hunting kind of guy. 20 years young, and damn proud to be a country boy. Former Vol. Firefighhter, aspiring to be an LEO (Law Enforcement Officer). Just for shits and giggles, I currently work for Walmart Stores Inc. as a stocker/Electronics Employee. One major benefit to this is the gaming swag. I got T-Shirts, lanyards, the Diabaol 3 soundtrack, Black Ops Bandanna, Posters, HUGE banners advertising games like COD and BF3, hats, beanies, etc. Anything Walmart gave away for a major game starting back in 2008, I have one or 2 of them. I do have a brother, and his account on here is -ID-. He is inactive though. He isn't much into the scene like I am.

Well that about sums me up for this introduction. Welcome to NextGenUpdate new members I look forward to getting to know you all, and gaming together., to the old members who know me, see below, and hello. ^^

Old members who know me:

I know I haven't always been in the greatest light here. Following my retirement, I went on an extreme downward spiral, continually lashing out at NGU, downing NGU and everyone who was a part of it. I had some deplorable actions in the past, all of them which I regret deeply. Looking back, the actions I have committed were not the actions that someone who is a responsible member of the site should have been committing. I mad a lot of people mad, most of which were the staff. I yelled as some of my good friends for an infraction that was clearly my fault, and that I 100% deserved. One admin tried to help, but I yelled at him as well. The infraction is a permanent reminder of the road that I never wish to travel down again. I acted very immature for my age, and immature for someone who strived to become a part of staff to help the community even more.

For that I truly am sorry, and I'm here with my E-Olive Branch wanting to clean my slate and start clean with everyone. I want to get back into a good light here at NGU. Help the community grow and prosper again.

Many people ask why I am not bold. I declined my bold. Needa tried to give it to me, I respectfully declined. When he asked why I did not wish to have it, I told him that I had not earned my bold status. I had actions of my past which deemed that honor not worthy for my account. I did not go into details which actions those were, but the above explains why I am not bold, and why I wish to not be bold. Not right now at least. I want to earn my bold. I need to prove to myself I deserve it. I feel, because of my past here, despite all the good I did, the bad out weighs it, rendering bold not worthy for myself. If I want my bold, I need to earn it. I intend to earn it back. I know I am not in a good light with the staff, and I wish to change that. I do miss being a mod, and helping you guys clean the forum. I wish to one day return to that status, but that is at the staff's discretion. Until then all I can do is report my heart out, ask for forgiveness, and help the community grow as much as I can.

I truly hope the old members (staff, former staff, those I yelled at and caused trouble for, Travis, Wondoh, Reaper, Drackos, everyone) can forgive my past actions and forgive my past immaturity. That we may start fresh and anew. I'm back at NGU and I'm here to stay. Here for good. Here for the long haul.

That's all I got. This is my re-introduction/apology thread.

I welcome all feedback below, and PLEASE BE HONEST! Don't hold back what you think and what your opinions are. I really want to see everyone's HONEST RESPONSE!

After reading that particular bit, I'm starting to think I don't really deserve this bold, former mods like RedKnight, Schaffin and any other mods that contributed alot deserves bold. Ever since I retired, I basically became a dick to some people.

For some reason, I feel like expressing my story (read if you want to, not mandatory)

When I registered, I was mainly a leecher, I registered because I kept exceeding the 5 page limit and got sick and tired of it so I registered, only came for MW2 hacks, glitches and exploits. I then decided to browse the forum and that's when I stumbled across the shoutbox, the first person that I spoke to was Coooelho then RedKnight. After being addicted to gaming, it had an impact on my social life, it got to the point where I started doing bad in school, I got expelled and from there on, started living a depressing life. I basically had nothing else so I made an attempt to regain my life again, I urged myself to stop playing video games constantly and try to take long breaks. It was one day when I was on the internet that I had stumbled across NGU (bookmarked), I decided to go on and see whats been happening, logged on, only had less than 20 posts so I decided to post in General Discussions and the Computer Section (apparently, it had contents that was more appealing).

From there on, I became active on NGU, I saw this Premium feature and decided to contribute to the forum, I proceeded to do so. By the time I had reached around 1000 posts, I had gained some reputation and recognition (when most people were able to recognise me). I was still fairly new, when I was posting in GD and CS, I didn't talk much in the shoutbox. I decided to visit the shoutbox to see if there's anything interesting, from there I met even more people and became friends with them, I kept seeing usernames in the shoutbox with different colours, I was curious, so I asked them what's so special about these colours and they told me those are staffs, I remember asking someone how do I get a spot as a staff and they linked me to the Moderator Requirement thread. My goal from there on was to try and get mod spot, I remember asking Paul if I could get promoted (I know, I would of been considered as an ass-kisser) but he denied, not directly but indirectly.

May - 2011 ( I remember because there was a 3 month requirement to get bold if you were going to retire and I retired a few days early before my birthday)
Before it was actually may, there was an application form that needed to be filled if you wanted to be a moderator, I applied, there was an announcement which announced the new sectional moderators, my name wasn't mentioned. A few months after the application, I logged on and the first thing I had notice was a shoutbox filled with moderators (staffbox), I was confused, I asked one of the staff what was going on and it wasn't long until they told me I was promoted, I can't remember who I was promoted with but I think CLM is one of them and FoxkaZ.

Ever since I became staff, I was extremely active, started posting daily and doing reports, at this point. I started realising I was falling into a loop, instead of being addicted to gaming which had an impact on my social life, I was addicted to NGU, in August, that was when I decided to retire. On December, I decided to take a break and go traveling, came back on February. Checked NGU, it was offline, every day, I kept on checking NGU but it was down, I kept on doing this to the point where I realised, it's down, it's gone. From there on, I stopped checking NGU until one day (June-July), out of boredom, I checked NGU facebook and saw that there were still posts being posted so I assume NGU wasn't down after all and I tried to see if I could access NGU but there were still problems, I managed to fix it and from there on, I tried my best to be active on NGU but not to the point where I'm on everyday.

NextGenUpdate is like my home, I can tell that I have greatly improved my grammar over the 2 year period and I have learnt a lot from this site.

One of the main things I remember is when we were playing wager matches on black ops trying to get 30k when you prestige, and one game you were completely raging, it was hilarious :ha!:

But welcome back, hopefully we will see you stick around and will become part of the community again.
