This was a debate I made when I was still at school, and I was thinking to myself 'Surely the Internet must be affecting the Newspaper businesses, even though there are those people who still read Newspapers, and those who look at news online.'

My opinion is that Newspaper businesses do create websites to try to keep the trend, though with the Internet becoming more popular and up-to-date with news and information, this would make Newspapers obselete in the future and this would also cut back the amount of trees being cut down to make paper for Newspapers, thereby helping the environment at the same time. I prefer to read news online than in a Newspaper.

What would your opinion be and which would you prefer, Newspapers or Online News?

I'd still rather read a newspaper then read news on the internet. I know a lot of people feel the same way.

It is affecting it but not much, $.50 a newspaper? Doesn't make much of an impact but it does make one.

I always read the newspaper when I take a shit :carling: keeps me entertained and relaxing :p

But still i prefer newspaper than online... alot of people can't afford internet or even a computer (or just they don't know how to use technology), but newspaper always cheap and keeps the business going :p

Newspapers have moved from news to opinion pieces.
Reason we have another source for the news and loads of them. Most news reported in the papers is old by the time it hits the morning, news is now instant. Even certain online newspaper sites are just giant blogs.

I like a mix of both gives me a idea of others opinions and the facts.
Without a doubt it has effected them with declining reader bases it pretty easy to see.

In some countries the internet is nothing compared to the newspaper, but some countries or cities/states prefer using their iPad or Laptop as a source of news or information. I personally prefer the newspaper because it makes me feel intelligent :p

I think that eventually newspapers will be obsolete. One good thing about reading news online is that you can participate in discussions about the article you just read.

A newspaper can remain valid by many factors, recycling, and using ink that is biodegradable. The fact that information is happening quickly does not mean it will be anymore important regardless of medium. With the internet we get bombarded with constant updates on everything, most of which we could ignore or just remove all together. A newspaper has to be choosy about what they will print thereby increasing the importance of what it will show. A good newspaper will trump a blog online so long as the info is kept pertinent to its area of coverage. By adding web links it can stay viable even in a future dominated by electronic media.
