Next step in evolution is a good question. Like I said in another post, humanity is at a fork in the road. If we continue to let ourselves be manipulated, which we have been for thousands of years, then we will continue to head down a dark road.Like a microchipped/robotic population,hive-mind where it's no individuality and everyone think and act alike. However, if we wake up and take our power back,evolution will take a positive step in having real and true knowledge about history,science, and spirituality (not what we were given) and use it for the benefit of man (not the controllers). How humanity is right now is a reflection of how we see ourselves, right now as a species we have a victim-mentality where it's always someone else fault. And we always look for guidance and leadership from an outside source (religion,politicians,celebrities,etc) instead of looking inward that's why humanity have ALWAYS been so easy to manipulate.

Evolution is an irrepressible, and ongoing process. By the "next step" I'm assuming you're wondering what will be the next "major" visible change to the human physiology (such as an extra limb or enhanced sensory perception). As ResistTheSun stated, there are several biological modifications still occurring naturally today (across all species), but they are generally dismissed by, or unknown to, the mainstream or ignorant public. And as you suggested, human evolution has indeed taken some influence from civilization and technology- but as I said, evolution most certainly has not stagnated.

As for the "next step", we could probably fantasize for centuries...I honestly find social evolution to be more interesting and relevant in comparison to biological evolution though.
