I understand Soul Silver is for the nostalgia factor but Black 2 is a new adventure. The last games I have played is the Diamond and Pearl series and I just bought a 3DS XL and want to get another game.

One thing I plan on getting is the R4 card eventually but I'd still like the physical copy of the game for it's value as I am a lifelong fan.

What I am asking is which one should I get.

My friend has Pokemon White 2 so I'd get Black 2 to link with him to unlock the rest of the crap. (I didn't care which version).

Soul Silver for the fact that when I was young, I got silver version first of the next generation of Pokemon games.
