I was just thinking about this. I feel as if the impact of a book just isn't as present when you're being required to read it. This came to mind when I thought of Lord of the Flies. Some of the actual scenes just lacked how horrid they are when they were assigned. It's not to say they weren't powerful, but simply that they were not as strong compared to other books I've read just for choice.
What are your thoughts?
I do not really enjoy reading literature, but for my GCSE's I was forced to read "Lord of the Flies". I hated it! But being a massive music fan I saw a Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters front man) biography on offer a few days before I went on holiday so I decided to buy it. It was a few hundred pages and I absolutely loved it and finished it in about 4 days! So in my opinion I think that the subject of the book and your reason for reading it is!. I also think that applies to everything.
