(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); There are several types of genres for music that inspires young people to change the way they dress, talk, and act. I'm not too experienced with most of the music out there except for hip hop (I'm a native New Yorker) and that has impacted the world. It went from poverty level street parties in the Bronx to breakdancing to fueds and drugs to complex urban/ghetto poetry to the mainstream music trend that we all know today and the one that I hate.

Artists from other states and countries took advantage of the popularity of hip hop and turned it into catchy sounding pop songs that get annoying within the first minute of hearing it. Since most of the young people think its cool listening to the artists who "write" or sing these songs that they try to be like them by having the artists's style.

I can recall from middle school that most of the kids use to wear baggy clothes and consistently curse in front of everyone and then in the middle of high school, everyone started wearing skinny jeans and consistently use the word "swag" and "boss".

I miss the hidden intellectualism that was in the 90s hip hop but times has changed so I keep a collection of 90s hip hop songs plus underground hip hop instrumentals that have that NYC vibe but I have also become interested in jazz and classical music which is mesmerizing to hear.

What are your opinions of music genres and their impacts on culture?

I can only speak for myself but Rise Against have made me a much more liberal and compassionate human being. They've also given me lots to think about regarding society... just listen to 'Awesome facerones' for a good idea of what I'm getting at.

To and fro the island.
Music can definitely influence the mood. Plato and Aristotle considered the idea of banning music because of the emotional impact it can have. It can either bring you down, or, as it often does with me, motivate me or inspire me to think differently.

It's important to realize that music can have a large influence on your thinking. Many people don't realize it, and so can be easily taken advantage of by the media and themselves. But understanding the impact of music can be very useful, as it can help you get out of a mood or state of mind you'd much rather avoid.
