Anyway, good thread CLM. Even though I wish he wasn't the one being inaugurated, I'd like to keep up to date on it, and I certainly can now. ^_^

Why do people make sure a big deal out of this, it's not like a big deal is made out of anything like this in any other country, besides maybe the United Kingdom when the crowning happens. Seems like a waste of time to me, just make him sign a contract to do nothing stupid and let that be the end of it, not give everyone a day off work to cheer for someone they are going to moan about in a few months or years about something they did/will do. That's just my view on a day like this, it's a waste of time and money which goes into organizing it that can be put to better use in funding economic growth and repaying debts. I don't see why Ireland has to have this broadcast on National television as well, it ridiculous to be quite frank.

RIP PICHU.
I love how huge the president is, the idea of it. Funny because they never intended the President to be a "Super Star". It just came to be that way and has stuck.

A good chunk of it is paid by donations from corporations and individuals. The rest being paid by the Federal government. None of this would even make make a dent in the defecit tbh.
