(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I am looking to get a new dog. I have grown up with dogs my whole life and trained a few as well. However I am looking for a new dog breed that will be a good fit. I go on long runs to stay in shape and live near a park so exercise is not too big of an issue. However I am worried what dog breed would be ok with being left alone for several hours as there would be nobody home to take care of it, everyone is either at school or at work.I would like some ideas and information on some breeds that might fit my life style.

Breeds I have been looking at are:
Corgis
Boarder Collies, although the long hours alone might be too much for this breed
Siberian Husky, same concern as above
German Shepard, although I see too many of these at work ha ha
Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier, grew up with this breed
Or a Alaskan Malamute

These are just the ones I have been thinking of if you have any information or advice please share your response.

Honestly I've never had a big dog in my life. Only pugs and such so that's where my heart his. However if I were to get another dog I wouldn't mind one of the following breeds... German Sheppard, Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky. However I live in Florida so it's hot as fuck year round so I'd probably have to relocate lol.

You should probably go between an Alaskan Malamute or Siberian Husky... I'm sure the husky could last awhile if you train it good enough.

I can see you're physically active and may do so with your dog, so I would stray away from any type of small dogs as my advice. That being said any type of the larger dogs you stated would be fine, but have you considered a Labrador by any chance? Also have you considered adopting? My family got my dog, Kody (Golden Retriever,) from a breeder and I couldn't be happier. But that being said with any type of pure breed, there is an increased risk of health problems, in the case of Retrievers and Labradors for example they have hip problems. But if you did consider rescuing/adopting a dog you'd be serving a great justice to that dog by possibly saving a dogs life (approx 60% of dogs are euthanized.)

I KNOW WHICH ONE YOU SHOULD GET! Get that one dog with 4 legs and a tail. I love those dogs.

I love bullies! I really wanted one but could not find any near me. And I didn't have the money for a dog and a trip out of state. So I ended up getting a Doberman Pinscher.

You should do research on these dogs... Especially Siberian Huskies, they require a-lot of attention and don't do well being left alone. You need to have enough room for them to run.. And a huge fence I mean 12 foot plus on top of 2-4 feet of the fence being buried under-ground. They are escape artists!!! Capable of jumping really high... They are very prey driven and could do harm to a cat, or run off a-lot. My aunt had one and it used to break out its crate during the day and eventually tore up the couch.

I also had a friend who used to have a Husky who wore 2 invisible fence collars and he would still run through it.

With any dog I would recommend the right research.

Greyhounds are amazing dogs, they are incredibly fit, and active but are perfectly happy to sleep through most of the day. I think you'd find it hard to find any dog that would be ok being left alone for more than 3-4 hours, have you considered getting 2? I dont know your circumstances, but if you can afford it, you wouldnt really be putting much more effort in, and then they can keep each other company throughout the time you're not there. Also, i know we hear it all the time, but please rehome a dog, not only do you save money, but its pretty self explanatory how amazing it is to give a dog a second chance. Ps. worked at a vets for 2 years Winky Winky just incase thats any sort of reassurance of info :P

Oh and as for three of your choices, border collies and any type of husky require a lot of attention almost all of the time due to how intelligent they are. And a german shepherd might not be the best choice, whilst they're great for the first 7-9 years they will almost certainly develop a disease, they are the worst breed of dog for getting ill. It is just unlucky for them but as i was told at uni, if you dont know an answer to a question about a specific disease, just answer german shepherd. >.<
