Post: Torrents. Whats your opinion?

Kay seriously i had THE WORST opinion about them, honestly i hated them, the reason being when i was little i tried downloading a game thru torrent(i was totally new to computers then) it fucked um my BRAND NEW computer and my dad got PISSED! and i mean pissed and ever since then ialways used direct download from a warez website but today at school my friend re introduce torrents to me and GOD DAMN is it awesome. Its amazing the speed and all. It is from now on my new method of download for sure

Has anyone seen the new film on youtube "TPB AFK"? It's a documentary about the pirate bay, I thought it was pretty interesting.
But anyway, I think the only thing keeping people using torrents is the fact that you never hear of anyone getting in trouble for it. If this was a more serious crime, and the percentage of people that commit it and are punished was actually higher (more than 50%), I think it wouldn't quite be as common as it is right now. Unless the percent is actually 50%. I don't know, but I doubt it's anything higher than 20%.
Technically speaking, it is wrong to get somebody's work for free if they wanted it to be priced. I think so many people just overlook this because of how easy it really is to just go to the pirate bay and download a torrent without ever getting caught.
Edit: sorry, just realized my post is kinda off-topic....oops...

I've been using torrents for years and never had a problem. You just have to be careful what you download I also don't use The Pirate Bay as a safety measure. I use mostly private trackers and RuTracker for what I'm missing. Also use my old laptop as a makeshift seedbox right now it has around 100 torrents seeding on it. Though most are for BakaBT.
