Just wanted to create a general discussion thread about the topic. Selling hacks and cheats. I just wanted to get some feedback from other people and see what they think about legality of this topic.
So what do you guys think:
Can selling game hacks and cheats get you into serious trouble i.e. game companies suing you?
This topic is mainly focused on PC games (Steam) such as Counter Strike.
Some Background info why I'm asking this: Selling game hacks is a huge business and it can make you rich in no time. I came up with this topic, and wanted some feedback from others, because I've recently stumbled upon a great hacker and programmer from from Sweden. He has excessive knowledge in game hacking and he knows how to make the hacks undetectable. So selling this game hacks can bring in A LOT of money, especially if they are undetectable. I'm actually trying to launch a whole marketplace for game hacks.
My point of view: Well selling game hacks is indeed illegal from what I've read. You won't overcome any trouble if you are a low-player and pull in a few k a month from selling games. But once you become bigger and bigger, which I intend to do, you will overcome problems - huge problems actually - in the form of lawsuits from game companies that do not want to distribute any cheaters and others bypassing their system to enhance the players gaming style. But what am starting to think is that there HAS to be a loophole in this system, a special way to keep being a big-player in this industry and pull in 10's of thousands of dollars a month. One way would actually be CPA/PPD - but that doesn't generate enough money.
Haha I know this may be a rhetoric question as I've answered most of it myself, but I just want to receive some insight from other people on this forum
