(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok so I had a quiz today in chemistry, some of it was based on significant figures, so for the last answer, I put down 10g when it was supposed to be 10.0g

isn't 10G the same as 10.0G?

And today in chemistry we did a lab on measuring the volume of Pennies.

Yeah they are the same thing, but they had to be significant figures.
We already did pennies, now we're actually burning stuff. Wait till you get to the magnesium ribbons, they're pretty fun.

Ya, sig figs are a bitch. If you have a ti-83+ calculator it has a built in sig fig calculator (press apps, science).

It also has a periodic table that says useful info on each element Smile

Did the teacher mark you wrong for it?

hahaha u are right but for the wrong reasons!
the sig figs in 10.0 are 1, 0, and 0.
In a number with a decimal point, all zeros to the right of the left-most non-zero digit are significant.

so if it were 0.0034 there are 2 sig figs =D
i pwn!

Yea sadly I didn't know that little fact till after my first test when I went to all the trouble to write a program in there for the periodic table and other facts. I was pissed, took me like 2 hours to get my cheat on
