Once on my first computer, never on my 2 newer ones. Not sure what kind of virus it was, just showed up as a bogus security scan so I formatted the PC and re-installed. Since then I invested in common sense 2000 edition and have had no problems since.

Never a virus, but I have messed up my laptop twice installing OSX and it would not boot up. I dont know why though, I installed it fine and my hardware was compatible, I would either get it stuck on the apple logo which I could fix or it would get stuck at the screen right at boot up which said "ACER" and had the BIOS F keys to push, I couldnt get past this screen when this happened and it had to be rebuilt.

Let's just say this I'm on my third computer in two years. And no, bringing it to a shop for repair was not an option. They might... Find things.
