(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); so i have a 02 impala the dam thing overheated on more than one occasion last summer and i knew something was wrong.
did some research and found the intake manifold gasket goes out alot on them years of impalas and sooo , i decided to
change them took me about 3-5 days, and i'm by no means a mechanic i just know my way around a little better than most Happy
but anyway the shop wanted 1,500 for a head gasket job "they thought it was a headgasket" and i did myself for about 450
for parts and supplies --

turns out it was not the headgasket but the intake manifold gasket ...
The updated gaskets are made of steel framed gaskets rather than the original plastic framed gaskets

-best advise i could give to some one who wants to do there own is just to take it slow label all
your nuts, bolts, parts ect. and some bolts are just going to break lol ..

Labeling all nuts & bolts is probably the BIGGEST hiccup on a do-it-yourself project, in my opinion. I had a few relatives change out the exhaust gasket of my 93 Acura Legend (Old School!), and...they sh*t the bed...*smGDh*. Nuts weren't screwed on tight because THEY DIDN'T GO TO THE ORIGINAL STUD. Plus, they didn't scrape off the original gasket parts? SERIOUSLY?!

Family. Gotta love 'em...lol.

Good. I'm proud. Auto shops will rape you when it comes to labor fees. I've had exhaust leaks in the past in which I needed to change the gaskets, pretty simple job if you have the tools and patience. Well done man, way to save a fortune :y:
