I'm enlisting in the Marine Corps and would love to bulk up before I ship out, the minimum weight requirement is 125 lbs for my height, but I would really like to be somewhat buff before I leave.
Problem I have is I lose interest in working out in my own home, since there's no gym around here that's all I have. Any advice on motivation? And also, how often should I work out, I was thinking every other day, and once a week with my recruiter which is the ultimate work out. ALSO, what kind of supplements? I have Whey Protein right now, tastes like ass and hard to choke down but if it really does work then I wouldn't have a problem.
Option A : Buy a cheap bench, squat rack, a bar and some weights. Follow a progressive over-load workout ( PM me and I'll link ). I strongly suggest, as it will give you the best mass/strength ratio.
Option B : Stick to free body weight workouts. ( calisthenics ).
Option A is purely straight forward, so I'll be talking more about calisthenics.
FOLLOW THE BASICS! There is no need to do these complicated isolations exercises. Stick to Push ups, chins ups, Squats ( Best Free weight exercise ever!), dips and calf extensions. Remember, you MUST add some sort of progression into these exercises. For instance, if you can do 50 pushups per set, don't keep doing it every workout, instead try to increase it by X rep each week. It will help you grow, and gain more strength!
Supplements : Just EAT EAT EAT. Supplements won't get you big alone. IMO, the only supplements you need are Whey and a Multi-vitamin. Trust me.
Diet: Gaining Muscle or losing fat is 80% Diet and 20% lifting/working out. Work out your maintenance, and eat by a surplus of 500-700 calories. Do not eat more than that, or you'll end up gaining to much fat. Make sure you hit your macro-nutrients as well. I'm not a nutritionist, so I'll link you to threads on BodyBuilding.com on how to calculate these. Do not eat more than 500-700 no matter what you hear, you are going for the army, you need to be able to run, and have a better cardio-vascular system. Gaining too much fat ( even if it means more muscle ) isn't what you should need.

Again, I strongly suggest using weights. You have less chance of dreamer bulking on it, but good luck either ways! PM me if you ever need help, or further explanation.
