(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Let's start out a little bit about me, I'm 20 years old, have ALWAYS been a scrawny kid, I only weigh about 120 right now. I'm 5"8'ish

I'm enlisting in the Marine Corps and would love to bulk up before I ship out, the minimum weight requirement is 125 lbs for my height, but I would really like to be somewhat buff before I leave.

Problem I have is I lose interest in working out in my own home, since there's no gym around here that's all I have. Any advice on motivation? And also, how often should I work out, I was thinking every other day, and once a week with my recruiter which is the ultimate work out. ALSO, what kind of supplements? I have Whey Protein right now, tastes like ass and hard to choke down but if it really does work then I wouldn't have a problem.

When do you ship out? Also if the whey protein tastes like shit go buy a different flavor lol. Pre-workout would help, and creatine. Take other supplements like fish oil etc, bodybuilding.com can help you more on supplements.

What equipment do you have access to? Tires can be good if you have no gym. Just flip them up and down a path etc, as heavy as you can lift and carry them up and down a path. Push-ups and sit ups of course. If you have any tree's around you should be able to find a branch strong enough to let you do a pull-up/chin-up on. Running etc is also good. If you can find bricks around they can be used as weights.

By the sound of it you need to bulk. Eat a lot of protein filled foods etc like steak/chicken. That should give you some weight, but again bodybuilding.com will have everything you need to know about that. As for motivation just think, if you don't bulk up now you're going to find training a lot harder so its better to level out the suffering so you don't get it all when you go to the marines basic training.

But on some music and just work. Theirs a whole section on motivation on bodybuilding also and they are probably more fit to answer these questions than me. I workout in a gym so I'm just railing off ideas.

Do a barrel roll!
Every other day sounds good. You definitely need to eat big to get big. Make sure you get a lot of protein as well.
Creatine and water weight will get you to the minimum so you don't have to worry about that.

It's take time to gain weight for muscle, I'd train my back to pulls up and chin ups, get that back strong.. your legs an all over, but make sure you train hard!! don't fall in the supplement trap like buy alot of them, all you need is creatine an whey. pre-workout maybe, but don't abuse it!!.
if you wanna get buff quick use roids lol, not really, don't cheat!! i gained 25 pounds this year!! i was 147 an now im almost 185!! an im 6'3 so that's a big achievement!! look up hodgetwins on youtube yoEliloit they help ya get big too!! GNC is a ripped pm if you want a cheap online store if want supplement like 50% off..

Option A : Buy a cheap bench, squat rack, a bar and some weights. Follow a progressive over-load workout ( PM me and I'll link ). I strongly suggest, as it will give you the best mass/strength ratio.

Option B : Stick to free body weight workouts. ( calisthenics ).

Option A is purely straight forward, so I'll be talking more about calisthenics.

FOLLOW THE BASICS! There is no need to do these complicated isolations exercises. Stick to Push ups, chins ups, Squats ( Best Free weight exercise ever!), dips and calf extensions. Remember, you MUST add some sort of progression into these exercises. For instance, if you can do 50 pushups per set, don't keep doing it every workout, instead try to increase it by X rep each week. It will help you grow, and gain more strength!

Supplements : Just EAT EAT EAT. Supplements won't get you big alone. IMO, the only supplements you need are Whey and a Multi-vitamin. Trust me.

Diet: Gaining Muscle or losing fat is 80% Diet and 20% lifting/working out. Work out your maintenance, and eat by a surplus of 500-700 calories. Do not eat more than that, or you'll end up gaining to much fat. Make sure you hit your macro-nutrients as well. I'm not a nutritionist, so I'll link you to threads on BodyBuilding.com on how to calculate these. Do not eat more than 500-700 no matter what you hear, you are going for the army, you need to be able to run, and have a better cardio-vascular system. Gaining too much fat ( even if it means more muscle ) isn't what you should need.

Again, I strongly suggest using weights. You have less chance of dreamer bulking on it, but good luck either ways! PM me if you ever need help, or further explanation. Smile

Buy Whey-Protein, drink a shake right after the workouts. Creatine helps build mass too, I'd recommend it. Other than that, as far as supplements go, not much else is needed. Just be consistent with your workouts and don't get lazy lol. Also, the heavier your lifts are, the more mass you build. Less weight = more lean and cut, but you want to get big so really push your limits and try to lift heavy.

Eat, sleep and lift. Get two supplements only get a pre workout and a protein or mass for post workout. Don't make it so complicated. Start with 3 day split with 3 sets than move to 4 day split and then 5, you can try 4-5 sets with 8 reps after some lifting.

Currently I'm 17, and 6'0 170. I lift hardcore. I eat 5 meals a day. You have to put effort into getting big. Creatine will help you gain weight, you'll gain 5 pounds in water weight really fast. Since you weigh so little, it shouldn't be hard for you to gain weight. Look up workouts that will help you gain muscle. Marines will be hard as shit. If you have no interest in working out at your home, and don't have a local gym. Be prepared for death. But good luck man. :y:

I'm 17. 5'11 188lb. I bench a max of 345lb (1x) and squated 545lb(2x) and leg press 775lb(1x).

Try supplements and powders that help you bulk. But you need to constantly be drinking water or you will dehydrate fast! Never do the same workout in consecutive days. Once you find a good music playlist, it'll motivate you. If you keep a mentality of being your best, you will not fail to reach your goal. It's all in your head. Pure will power. You can do it bro!

Personally, I take creatine powder. But you gotta be consistent with it or else it will do you more harm than good.

Don't lift with your back. My dad's cousin's brother's former roommate did that 12 years ago and bam, threw out his back for good.
