Kiss My Country Ass
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Let's start out a little bit about me, I'm 20 years old, have ALWAYS been a scrawny kid, I only weigh about 120 right now. I'm 5"8'ish

I'm enlisting in the Marine Corps and would love to bulk up before I ship out, the minimum weight requirement is 125 lbs for my height, but I would really like to be somewhat buff before I leave.

Problem I have is I lose interest in working out in my own home, since there's no gym around here that's all I have. Any advice on motivation? And also, how often should I work out, I was thinking every other day, and once a week with my recruiter which is the ultimate work out. ALSO, what kind of supplements? I have Whey Protein right now, tastes like ass and hard to choke down but if it really does work then I wouldn't have a problem.

Lol what. Your relative was either using an extremely wrong form, or lifting heavy ass weights his body cannot handle. He probably got injured from bent over rows, as it's the most common back lift to give injuries. It's too easy to avoid by using the row machine + Pull ups, as they draw the same results with zero...I mean zero risks.

@OP, NEVER neglect a part in your body, if you want to look good, you must have proportions. If any of your muscles are lagging you will look like shit. Do not listen to anyone's story about being injured, because 100% it was their own fault and lifting had nothing to do with it. Ah, and always remember, BodyBuilding is a sport, injuries should be expected, but it's rare to occur in BB if you do not compete.

Try supplements and powders that help you bulk. But you need to constantly be drinking water or you will dehydrate fast! Never do the same workout in consecutive days. Once you find a good music playlist, it'll motivate you. If you keep a mentality of being your best, you will not fail to reach your goal. It's all in your head. Pure will power. You can do it bro!

Personally, I take creatine powder. But you gotta be consistent with it or else it will do you more harm than good.

I'm not buying the 545 2x. You have 18 pounds on me, but I doubt you have more muscle than me. I could get 450 as my max squat. stare
Also that's bull shit. My football teams running back is going D1 and can only get 600 1x. and he's big as fuck.

Proof or negged. I'm 27, 220lbs, and can only bench 225x22 and squat 315x12/405x4. I have a hard time believing those stats since I got 30lbs on you and work with less weight. Will rep if you can prove it as I will be impressed.

To OP.... EAAAAAAAATTTTTT!!!!!!!!! You need to have a caloric surplus of at least 500. 1000 would be good. Since you're 120 at 20 y/o, don't worry about fat. Add mass and cut it later. Add in a weight gainer if needed, instant 1000 calories.

Is there really not a gym around you? Hard time believing that. Is there a community college around you that has a gym? Community center? If not go buy a rack, bench, barbell, and at least 2 of each: 5, 10, 25, and 45 plates. If you can, try to get some dumbbells you can work with...maybe 10-15s for deltoid work and 25-30s for arms. Look on craigslist for used weights. YOU WILL NOT GAIN WEIGHT DOING BODYWEIGHT EXERCISES AT HOME.

Do compound lifts and a 3 day split 3 sets 8-12 reps. No more than 2 minutes rest on big exercises, 1 on more focused ones. Try to be done in 45 minutes.

Day 1: Shoulders and back
Barbell shoulder press
Barbell bent over row
Incline bench press (dumbbells are ideal)
Lat pull down
Front delt raise, rear delt raise
Pullups (wide overhand grip) 3 sets to failure
Upright row

Day 2: Legs and abs
Barbell Squat
Weighted sit ups 2-3 sets 20+ reps
Calf raises 2-3 sets 20+ reps
Plate twist 2-3 sets 30 reps
Romanian deadlift
Leg raises 2-3 sets 20+ reps
Conventional deadlift

Day 3: Chest and arms
Barbell bench press
Bicep curls
DB flys
Triceps...pullovers, extension, skullcrushers, pulldown...which ever you like
Dips

Day 4: rest

Day 5: repeat from day 1.

I have never felt anything wrong in my back with doing them...

And btw my dad has lifting since he was 18 and he is like 56 now no back injuries or anything. And yes he makes deadlifts.

I used to do them as well, but one of my friends who competes in BB, talked to me about how dangerous they are. It's not at the beginning, but as you keep progressing, your weights will go up. The problem is even if you use perfect form ( 90% of people don't do PERFECT form), a single slip with heavy weights can cause an injury in your back. I did some re-search as well, and stumbled upon same explanation. Check this video by HodgetTwins...

Personally, I won't do them unless they are mandatory in a competition, or something similar.
