Yes!... OMG OK, yes I have family in Boston and I do sympathize with the families that are affected but honestly.. its only like 3 people... More people die for other criminal reasons every day... If this was in Ireland you wouldnt hear about it.

Go into the debate section and you can see my views on God in a thread I created.

And yes Americans should care more than others but people in other countries like the UK etc care more about bombings in America than Iraq. You're saying they happen everyday there and they do but not mass bombings across the country with so many injured etc. Saying you don't care because it happens everyday and only caring when its irregular is putting other peoples lives before another's. Thats not right.

Imagine where you lived was Iraq and the bombings happened in your city which no one made a big deal out of because "its a common occurrence." What would you be thinking? Terrorists done both yet you don't see people offering sympathy to the families of people who died in Iraq just because of where they live. Fuck you all.

Is the world fucked up?? maybe, but not as bad as it was 50 yrs ago or 100 yrs ago or more.
Now when there is a famine or national crisis, the world gets together to help.
You think, 100 yrs ago, the world would care about the earthquake in Haiti or Japan. Or the ethnic conflicts in Darfur or the Congo.

The world is a smaller place and more inter dependant now, that is a good thing. It causes public pressure on governments to help those in need. It also causes events like the Boston bombing to get more news coverage world wide than it may deserve, but the US is the biggest news seller in the world, so you get more international coverage.

The worst recent phenomenon is the fact that small groups or individuals realize they can get international attention now by performing terrorist attacks or glorify themselves by killing a bunch of innocent people.
They are able to influence large government's policy decisions, whether its a gun control debate, or counter terror measures that result in loss of some freedoms for the public of that government. As well as making the general population feel threatened.

I hope this incident was a home grown terrorist and not a Islamic fundimentalist attack.
But as an American I have a right to feel threatened by internal and external terror attacks and the impact it has on me and my way of life. It does not mean I do not have compassion for others in the world that live under much worst conditions, but like most in the world, my immediate concerns are for my friends and family and how incidents like this effect them.

I completely understand where you're coming from Needa but what gets me is that a bomb 20 times worse than in Boston is hardly known about whereas the event in Boston is going to be in the news for weeks. People around the world who aren't American and have no American relations are saying "pray for the families" of the victims yet no one talks about the Iraq bombings. They are human beings too. Just because where the live in the world gets a lot of negative attention recently doesn't justify the fact that the bombings were worse and a lot of people died and were injured. Why are Americans more important than Iraqis in the eyes of the world? They aren't.
