(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I may or may not be going to Prom in 2 weeks. I have until thursday to decide. I'm a sophmore, and only juniors and seniors go to prom, and my date is also a sophmore. Were both having a junior friend buy our ticket if we decide to go. Anyways, its not either of our actual proms, and its actually for a completely different school.

My dilemma is the whole tuxedo thing.

I have 4 well fitting suits, button down shirts for underneath, and ties and all that. I have the money to go out and rent a tux, but I feel its a waste. For one, its just one night, then it might not fit like my suit does, and I'll look like an idiot.

I have a Ralph Lauren Polo Suit in my closet, why would I drop $200 to rent a tuxedo for a night?

I don't have the money to just buy a tuxedo right now for future uses, either. My parents don't really want me to go since it isnt my school, and I shouldnt really be going to a prom period until next year. So whatever I buy I have to do on my own. Between the ticket, and dinner, and money for a hotel after party me, my date, and all my friends are going to, I'll probably only have $250 of disposable income left, which I'd lose with the tuxedo rental.

My big thing is can I wear a suit to prom?
And, if so, will I stand out and look stupid?

*heres the actual suit I have. My dad has 50+ ties which I've used before on occasion, in basically all colors. The pants match the suit exactly.

It all depends on what type of suit it is. If it's something that almost looks like a tux, then you will do fine, but I would recommend wearing a tux though because some people might say something and if your date doesn't know that's what you're going to do, then she might be pissed and you will want to get something that matches her dress.

I thought it was a wast of time and money when I went my Junior year, so I just went to the after-prom and of course the "after-after-prom" Winky Winky my senior year. :p

Depends on how the suit looks. Link a picture of the suit and tie and you'll get better opinions. A tuxedo is always the best choice for prom, but if you're really stuck in cash then it's not worth it. Also, check your girlfriends opinion before you do anything, she'll know better than us Smile

Simple: Don't go to prom. Go ask your parents for alcohol and get drunk instead. Costs way less and more fun if you and your GF are alone.

Buy a suit that fits you! You're going to have to use it again next year anyways! Just get a vest and tie that matches her dressUpside Down Happy
