No, he got favored a lot just for being black. People didn't care about his views or what he was going to do, he was black so the black people rooted for him, and surprisingly white people followed the negros.

Exactly, I think almost 90% of all african americans voted for barack obama...thats ALOT of free votes

I hate to say it but I think the color of his skin got him into the white house(no pun intended). Id be willing to bet that the majority of the black community really didn't even know what he was for or against but based there vote strictly on race. To them its the first african-american person run for president so why not vote for him. I do want to point out that I'm not racist and this is my opinion.

He is a great speaker and motivator. Without his personality and his views, it wouldnt matter whether he was black or not.

A lot of people probably voted for him because he was black, but a lot of people in the south probably voted McCain instead because he wasn't black.

Lets face it. McCain was an old mother ****er that should have ran for president at least 10 years ago. Electing Palin for his VP didnt help either. If he died Palin would be president.

I believe in equality for all, and voting for president just because he is black is not equality for all. Neither is accepting black or Hispanic people into colleges with a lower gpa/SAT scores over a white male with higher test scores.

He would have lost IMO.

well, most of the white citizens voted for him because of their fear of being considered a racist. and the majority of black people voted for him simply because he was black. so i don't think he would've gotten as many if he were white.

Al Sharpton was black and ran and lost tons of times, so I don't think being black is the reason he won. He won because he was articulate and motivated people enough to actually care about what happens
