Post: Porn to be blocked by default in the UK [Update]

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well I'm almost certain I've made this thread before but well here it is again.

Turns out our one and only saviour David Cameron really is determined to block access to pornographic material in the UK by default. In the news recently we've seen all sorts of chitter chatter from him to the ISP's and vice-versa but really nobody thought this would actually go through.

For one reason him and the ISP's were pretty much at war over the issues and the ISP's explaining that they already offer filters for this kind of block and perhaps people should be further encouraged to use them rather than inconveniencing the whole of the nation to "protect" the children. But no, Mr Cameron won't stop there he is intent on misleading people as shown in a letter to the ISP's leaked last week (viewable here: You must login or register to view this content.) in which he calls for the Active choice filters to be rename to default on thereby misleading customers all together.

My main reason for opposing this is that it's just a form of censorship where the government decides what I can and can't view which I find despicable and a complete violation of my freedom of choice. But What pisses me off more is that Mr Cameron expects people to take an active roll in voicing that they want porn. Now I'm 21 and look at porn as much as the next guy but my old man is the one that pays the internet bill etc. and deals with the ISP. I have to somehow approach him and tell him don't let Sky push these filters on you without explicitly stating that it's to do with porn. Now how many self respecting people ever what to discussing anything to do with porn with their parents. Fucking none, I don't want to phone up the ISP and be like "Um yeah hi I'd like some porn please could you sort that out..."

Though what in fact concerns me more is that sites I visit on a daily basis that contain SFW and NSFW sections will simply be banned altogether instead of only parts being banned. I imagine the situation for many British members on this site will be similar to mine or perhaps worse if you are under the age of 18.

So lets get the hate train started, also the most recent article and the one with the most overwhelmingly negative response is (You must login or register to view this content.)

Also to get around this I just bought a VPN, It really fucks me off though that David Cameron thinks this is acceptable I mean it really really really fucks me off.

Truthfully, I enjoy watching porn. But I dunno about Child Porn. Its just so wierd how they are so young. Since porn is going to be banned, I suggest moving on with your life. If you are going to move countries etc, your a sad guy. Why the fuck would you move houses for porn? Well for the desperate people that enjoy watching porn can. But overall, life is unfair at some points in life, sometimes you can't do anything about it :|

I'm not planning to move house or anything because of a porn ban, I think you misunderstood me. Also I'm not defending the creation and distribution of Child Porn, it obviously goes without saying that it's a disgusting practice and is right to be banned. But David Camerons way of trying to remove Child Porn from the internet is just a waste of time... why, because:

1. No one looks for that stuff through Google unless they want a jail sentence, they'll use TOR (Only a real brain dead moron would use google)

2. Google already does more than enough to remove child porn from the surface internet and the fact David Cameron seriously thinks that blocking certain terms from Google would have any affect what so ever on the production and distribution of child porn is laughable.

David Cameron is only doing this because he wants to get all the feminists that hate porn anyway and incompetent parent behind him to vote him in next time. They all think the same way he does and that's, if you want to find CP you just look for it on google, and even if that were the case other search engines exist so it's even more pointless just targeting one. I mean not only is this man not doing the right thing, he's doing it incredibly badly too and that's why I'm so frustrated. Politicians shouldn't be aloud to dictate on matters they don't have a single bit of knowledge about because he just sounds like an ignorant fool right now.

What I'm paramountly concerned with is the filtration of regular pornography from the internet because almost certainly sites that are not just porn sites will get banned. I can think of numerous websites I visit that host both NSFW and SFW content which would be banned completely. This really is just the beginning of censorship for the internet, I just wonder what happens when you opt out, will you get put on a list of potential rapists or something because you still want to see porn... will your neighbours be notifies of you choice and warned. What next, will websites that have different political ideologies on them be added to the black list? When will it stop?

Also in case anyone's wondering, I'm 21 and can just phone up and get the filter turned off, not being able to get around it is not what bothers me... I assure you I can still happily fap as much as I want even after they bring this in and without the use of a VPN.

I'm saying my opinion on things. I'm not telling you to move or anything.

In regards to child porn, David Cameron has no idea what he's talking about. He wants to ban search terms from google which shows just how fucking ignorant he is. Nobody in there right minds searches for CP on google they'd use the TOR network. Google already does enough to combat the spread of child abuse images and takes them down when it can David Cameron wants to get the mass public behind him by doing something that sounds great but effectively does nothing and just wastes money.

Also he grossly underestimates the proportion of highly technically literate paedophiles. He thinks it's only a very small minority of people that would use a VPN or know how to use the TOR network but in actually fact that's most of today's teenagers not a select group of paedophiles.

He assumes ever paedophile is a Jimmy Saville old man that looks up child porn on goolge and tries to get an inappropriate touch of a child at every given opportunity. After spending much time on the internet and brushing shoulders with pedos on sites such as 4chan you begin to get a feeling that at least 3/4 of people that search for child porn are not interested in fucking a real child nor would ever try to and would simply be satisfied looking at porn. It's like trying to claim that every person that watches porn will at some point want to go out and rape a woman, it's this kind of mass ignorance on the topic that the government use to their advantage to inform the masses and scaremonger people into thinking that automatically a paedophile = a child molester and rapist which is not even remotely the case.

I mean if he tried to globally ban porn because of two high profile rape murder cases in which the accused had looked at violent porn before carrying out the attack people would just be like, yeah well shit happens but that's 2 out of a few million but because it's children everyone reacts completely different and gets behind mass censorship and porn blocks.

I just don't understand the government, this country really is run by a complete tech illiterate fucking moron that doesn't listen to all the people saying this won't work and it's a bad idea (Fucking even the ISP's are saying that, but it's like he just thinks it will work) and a waste of money. The only people that fucking want this are brain-dead tech illiterate parents that are to lazy to take an interest in their own childs browsing habits and womyn that want porn banned anyway.

Did some further reading into this appears David Cameron is trying to spin no change.
Was a leaked memo which had a series of errors in it to ISP's 'change the name of your current policy to default on does not require any changes to current advice.'

What sort of funny this is the guy who cut the budget of the CP group by 10% which resulted in less people working in that unit.

Shame this won't cause a real debate on violent porn and sex education in the UK along with teaching parents they need to notice what your kids are doing. He could do some real good by reforming sex education which is badly needed reforming along with teaching kids how to keep safe online. Instead it a spin policy meant to change nothing and has reduced the budget of the task force to protect kids.

Based on the ignorance so far to a number of issues and disregard towards any sort of study proving the goverment wrong. Not shocked they have not listened and just done this, spinning over doing the right thing to help fix this problem. Also the same guy who said 'Nanny state is a bad idea'

I think just shortly we will be able to see a rise in sexual crimes, such as rape throughout the UK. Whatever anyone thinks of pornography and how bad it is, it keeps the male population's hormones to a level they can deal with.
