I would like to ask why IW? Why not EA, Ubisoft and so on? Oh wait, I know, never mind. What's to say IW will still be around in a few years time? If they are, what's to say they will be still making MW games? Soon enough, no matter what you think now, CoD games will get stale. They will, trust me.
If I had the experience to work at any game developer I would. I wouldn't just want to work at one. What's the point? You not going to learn anything new by making a shooting game all your life. You are not going to know how other games such as sport or racing games work are you? I wouldn't even class IW as a 'major' or a 'good' company considering they have only made 4 games, and you got it, all CoD games.
I think many of you people need to take a good look at life. It's not just "I'm going to work at *this* company doing *this* job" It's more like "Right, what jobs are out there today? Oh look cleaner, experienced *this* experienced *that*"

Everyone and their mother wants to be a game developer, unless you are extremely good at making/designing games(and I mean the best) then it's a basically a waste of time to try and pursue.

Infinity Ward makes games, that requires serious program experience and world building experience. How many people are there in the world qualified to do that? Not a whole lot. Are you one of those people? If not, then forget about it because it would never happen. Just stating the facts, so don't hate...

I have programming knowledge, C++, Direct x, OpenGL knowledge and I have made many maps in the map maker that they use. Would I get the job since I know scripting, game engine decompiling and such? Nope lol.

I think many people are also forgetting you need a good CV/Resume. What's the chance a company would take you on if you haven't got the experience from another company. You can't just jump straight into a company like IW, you need to start in a company that isn't known such as a company in your town that makes websites/flash games etc. You can have the best programming skills ever with no experience of a job in that are and still not be accepted. They wouldn't waste a day/week to prove you have leet programming skills. Too much time, money and effort.
