(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Not sure if you've seen this in recent news but a teen committed suicide due to being trolled/bullied on ask.fm

You must login or register to view this content.

I actually think this is way too far, You get you-tubers such as Minnesota-burns who does this thing but to a certain extent on YouTube but I find that is more humorous/Fooling around trolling which Imo is okay at certain levels, But this is sick and it's not the first I've seen on ask fm, the following are real quotes from an ask.fm wall

It always will go too far. Hannah Smith wasn't the first to commit suicide from trolls, and I guarantee she will not be the last. There is nothing anybody can do about knobheads, they tend feel more powerful when behind a computer screen.

It's progressively gotten worse over the last 5 years. Trolling has taken it's own art form. Blame 4chan

Eh, I would say 4Chan played a decent role in the troll movement, but you can't forget UseNet or the early days of IRC.

This isn't trolling, this is bullying. They aren't the same thing. For example, there's "trolling is a art" and then there's "you need to die" etc.

As for the implications of apprehending those responsible and suggesting tighter internet regulations - the internet is a crucial tool for citizens in a world where every government has an ulterior motive and just wants more and more control. I hate to say something so cold but that's a world more important than a few kids killing themselves.

As for the kids killing themselves... that's just sad. No doubt the suicidal thoughts began in the "real world" before continuing on Twitter or wherever else. How do you tell a bully who has no real understanding of the consequences due to their age to quit what they're doing?

I should troll on ask.fm  (not like this but since it's basically Q&A troll)

This is sad and it will go on as long as the internet is around. not to be cliche but suicide ends the chance of getting better.

This is just sad. I don't know why people post things like that on the internet  I guess I wouldn't understand, but maybe it's because they take it lightly and don't think the other person will be serious about it? I just don't know, wouldn't mind knowing other people's opinions on why this happens though. And yeah, it probably starts with trolling but then it just turns into bullying.

I’m too L33T
Trolling was never good. Yes 'banter' can be fun if it isn't taken too far, i myself have never got ask.fm because i knew of the crap that goes on.. but other sites i still get tonnes of crap from users than make fake accounts, no-one does nothing about it apart from this crappy 'report' button which actually ends up doing nothing.. Its a horrible feeling, its sickening and the worse part it when you don't know them, cyber-bullying is one of the easiest ways these days for bullies to bully someone anonymously.. its very sad they do it behind a computer but no-one should be taking their life because of these 'bullies'.. i know myself its very hard to speak out to someone, it took me 2/3 years before i actually did speak out but looking back i wish i spoke out sooner. But its life, its hard.. people say open up and not bottle it up but bullying isn't the easiest thing to speak about. Hannah herself, was a very pretty girl with a great future ahead of her and she took her life for what? Some jealous people who have nothing better to do with their life than abuse someone over a computer. I don't know why the government.. or strong people in power over the internet shut these sites down.. no-one should be taking their life because of cyber-bullying but 3 deaths because of this site? Shut it down now before anymore happen? Thats common sense!! But i wonder how many deaths Facebook has? Twitter? etc.. these sites are created for their purposes to contact and socialize with people but they are used in the completely wrong context!! I myself think the age to use the sites are way too low but theres nothing stopping people creating fake/anonymous accounts with fake DOB anyways. But theres nothing to stop them, so theres no hope.

Im going to stop typing here, this is just my opinion on trolling/cyber-bullying/social sites, just wanted to let it out into the open.

Kind Regards,
Gommy

It's sad, but honestly, if you get that upset over something on the internet... It's the internet. If you post anything about yourself, you should expect some sort of abuse because the internet is anonymous and anons are dicks. Plain and simple. You don't know anyone, no one knows you. That means you don't take anything to heart when something mean and ugly is said about you. And I mean, the solution to stop the bullying/ trolling is simple. Stop going on the sites that you're getting bullied on, or stop getting on the internet, period. Unless they find where you live and come shoot up your house, why care?
