if torrenting is the best way what precautions should I take and what sites/torrent downloading programs should i avoid? should I install ip blockers?

Torrenting, if you're that concerned. Buy a VPN and torrent through that.

Depends, are you looking into Buying them? If you want to Buy them, then iTunes or Beatport. Now, if you want to Torrent them, I suggest Avast Secureline VPN and ThePirateBay. Just my opinion. Also use Virus Scanners. But most of the time the Music is clean.

For torrenting I've been using peerblock and updating my list from iblocklist. I'm pretty sure you could also just use peerblock.

Rip each song individually off of YouTube.

I use uTorrent for the downloading client and then I get my downloads from ThePirateBay. Always worked for me, never got any viruses. Just search what you want, then look at the results, there should be a bad above the results that say Type, Name, View: Single/Double, SE and LE. Click on SE and then choose the first matching result. That should minimize your chances of getting viruses and also give you the fastest download speed.

You could also use iTunes if you wanted to buy them.

filestube or use some google tags. I'd recommend filestube though if you don't wanna be typing a lot of stuff. Plus its torrent-free! If you're going to torrent, use peerblock, look for those that have been rated/commented on with high seeds. Alternatively just sign up to warez-bb (not advertising) if you cannot find it. Use it as a last resort though.
