Amazon just posted this on their Facebook page about 15 minutes ago. They are working on a new program that is called "Prime Air" that will deliver packages to your door in 30 minutes by "unmanned drones". They hope to have the program running by 2015.

This is freaking crazy!! Happy

We're excited to share Prime Air — something the team has been working on in our next generation R&Awesome face lab.

The goal of this new delivery system is to get packages into customers' hands in 30 minutes or less using unmanned aerial vehicles.

Putting Prime Air into commercial use will take some number of years as we advance the technology and wait for the necessary FAA rules and regulations.

Check out this footage from a recent test flight.

Grumpy is God.
I'm still wondering about how fast they could go and how the hell one of those could travel two states with an iPhone in under 30 minutes, not only would it have to be traveling at several hundred miles an hour but how it would make it back on the same charge or whatever form of energy it might use.

The range is 10 miles for a distribution center as said on Sky News.

I would imagine you would have to live close to a distribution center, like JP said, in order to qualify for the program. But the fact that this won't take place until 2015 or later, I'm sure Amazon will have even more centers built, or being built, in that time.

According to the law right now this is not allowed the theory is pretty cool. Only a matter of time until somebody decided to push the tech and try this. Some issues when it comes to landing say near a block of flats.

Haha yeah, I don't see how they will prevent people from sitting in their front lawn and shooting them down and then collecting the loot. That's what I would do :p
