Earlier this week LinkedIn filed a lawsuit, but they don’t know who against yet. Over the past few months someone has created thousands of fake accounts, allowing them to interact and mine the data of over 100,000 legitimate LinkedIn users. They plan to use Amazon to help find the culprit, who was using AWS (Amazon Web Service) to create the accounts.

LinkedIn has since banned those accounts from using the site, and said it heighten its security, but wants to go after the scammers because fake profiles reduce the accuracy and integrity of the legitimate information on the site.
