I've been on the hunt for a new tv. I currently have an LG 720p Plasma, but plan on handing that over to my sister (who has no tv)
With the plasma, I was always unsatisfied with the quality image when watching tv, playing on my playstation and when watching hd movies on netflix and blurays.
While I'm aware that I could have the wrong setup, I just want a new tv.
I don't know much about televisions, so that's why I've come here. To see of you guys could help me out.
Today I stopped by Best Buy to look at some LEDs, LCDs, and Plasmas. Although some 1080p LEDs definitely out shined the 1080p plasmas, I didn't purchase anything without having any help (None of the employees were around to help).

Basically I want something that when I'm watching hd channels on my tv, and watching netflix hd movies and blurays, it would look amazing. For gaming, I'm not that crazy about, I hardly play anymore. So what should I go with?
A LED with 1080p, 120hz?
LCD 1080p?
Plasma 1080p HD?

Hope you guys help me out! Needa

I sat on your nachos
if you can afford a 4k tv, get it. They are kinda pricy right now unlike 1080 tvs that are at excellent price

Why get a 4k tv when there's barely any 4k content out there? There ridiculously overpriced atm.

You're not gaming, you don't need LED period.

You want the best viewing experience, get a top tier plasma or OLED.

Plus LED's look better and fit on the wall easier due to their slimmer design. 120hz is also more than enough but i would definitely go with 100+. Another thing to consider would be getting a smart tv since you use netflix. Oh and freeview HD might be worth considering too, that is if you use freeview.

you do know there's digital and physical hz? most TVs are digital and only a few gaming monitors are over 100hz also he is most likely a console gamer so he won't be seeing 100+hz for a very long time as Consoles wil be hitting 1080p on all games at 60hz and PC will be beyond 4k and given the life time of a console gen so in the purpose.of saving money 60hz is fine

Yeah i know that but as he said he hardly plays games anymore so clearly he will want to be buying a good quality, decent sized tv. Not a gaming monitor. Therefore 120Hz is the definite better option if he wants top performance while watching HD channels, netflix or whatever.
