I've been on the hunt for a new tv. I currently have an LG 720p Plasma, but plan on handing that over to my sister (who has no tv)
With the plasma, I was always unsatisfied with the quality image when watching tv, playing on my playstation and when watching hd movies on netflix and blurays.
While I'm aware that I could have the wrong setup, I just want a new tv.
I don't know much about televisions, so that's why I've come here. To see of you guys could help me out.
Today I stopped by Best Buy to look at some LEDs, LCDs, and Plasmas. Although some 1080p LEDs definitely out shined the 1080p plasmas, I didn't purchase anything without having any help (None of the employees were around to help).

Basically I want something that when I'm watching hd channels on my tv, and watching netflix hd movies and blurays, it would look amazing. For gaming, I'm not that crazy about, I hardly play anymore. So what should I go with?
A LED with 1080p, 120hz?
LCD 1080p?
Plasma 1080p HD?

Hope you guys help me out! Needa

Expensive TVs = bad gaming experience.

I would go with a Samsung monitor if you want to play games competitively, or get a TV that is no bigger than 42" if you want to just watch movies. No 3D unless you want to fry your eyes.

Agreed after 3+ playing on a 42in LG I've regreted it so much for gaming! Now I've got a 24in Acer Gaming Monitor @ 2ms response and it's 200000000x better.

I have a 32' samsung led tv and love it ^_^.... I wouldn't get a smart tv for gaming. I heard there's a couple of seconds of delay on some of them and won't be good for gaming.

you don't need 120gz just go to a short and get the best looking 1080p tv also the amount of bad info here is bad you don't need a 120hz gaming monitor as well they aren't as good picture wise there just fast and there over hyped by so called MLG gamers. A big TV is good just depends on your viewing distsnce and a $150 IPS 1080p monitor is a good choice if only gaming and sitting less then 5ft away

I'd recommend this Asus: You must login or register to view this content.

Well firstly i would definitely go with an LED tv, LED tvs use around 40% less power than LCD's or plasmas plus they generally have better picture qualities. Plus LED's look better and fit on the wall easier due to their slimmer design. 120hz is also more than enough but i would definitely go with 100+. Another thing to consider would be getting a smart tv since you use netflix. Oh and freeview HD might be worth considering too, that is if you use freeview.
