Post: ACT help/question (US)

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); First off I want to provide some background information: I just took my first ACT earlier this month (I'm a junior) without any test prep or doing any studying what so ever for the test. I ended up getting a 27 on it, but I don't know if I should try taking an ACT Prep course or using another method to prepare for a retest, just take the test again like I did the first time, or not take it again.

Now what I'm asking for you wonderful members of NGU to tell me is if doing a prep course or any prep work at all helped improve your ACT score, and by how much did it improve it?

Personally I don't want to take an actual prep course due to how expensive that they are, so if you have any other resources to recommend that I use go ahead and post them below as well.

Thanks and have a great day,
Nascosto

Edit: I also plan on meeting with my guidance counselor as well to get her opinion on the matter, but I was curious to see your input.

What's the ACT? State/Country exam?

I got the SATs, and hell it's painful when it comes to timing and the test :(. Just keep calm and don't look at the timer lol

The ACT is used for the same purposes as the SAT, but it has math, English, reading, science, and an optional writing (I think the SAT has critical reasoning, math, and writing).

Thanks for your reply as well!

Sorry, I never take ACT exam because my school offer me only SAT. So I have no comment for this case. However don't rush to finish the exam. Take your time to do it. I know it is painful to do it. I wish you the best on your exam.

Actually, I just took it last week and Where I live (Chicago,IL) they have now made the ACT writing part mandatory. I would suggest retaking it because if you have a chance to get a better score, why not do it? I didn't get any prep course...
