OP, just confront him about it, ask him why he's like that. If he's straight about it he'll tell you that he's trying to take your girl, or that he doesn't want to lose a friend. If he's trying to take her away from you then, screw him. He's not a real friend. If he isn't then just assure him that your relationship with her won't jeopardize your friendship with him.

But I have to ask, why ask personal issues like this on a gaming forum? I understand you'll get legitimate answers from most, but don't you find it a bit awkward?

Why not be friends all together? He isn't trying to take your girl away, and if your girl goes with him, leave both of them and never talk to them again. This is a judgement to see if your girlfriend cares about you and/or your friend cares about you too.
