a lot of species produced eggs asexually. im sure the chicken evolved from some prehistoric egg laying creature, and so on. Evolution couldve created an animal that then evolved into laying its first egg. Starting a cycle of that species that will go on. it had to start somewhere, eggs dont form out of thin air.
