(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well, since I just got done talking to a user that calls me a backseat. I want to know; honestly, what everyone else thinks. I feel that this is essential for me to fix whatever problems that I am creating so if your answer is yes, then tell me what i'm doing wrong because I could use some creative criticism. Enzo

Yeah, I report threads as well. But sometimes I feel the need to give input on what's happening. Just a natural instinct. But if that could help solve some problems; it's worth a shot.

It has pro's & con's to it so their isn't a really good answer.

Pro's- You help get rid of the 800000000 million retard threads being posted daily, posts being made in the wrong section, etc etc. You show dedication to the site by helping the staff as well as members understand the rules, assuming they listen in the first place.

Con's- If there's "backseat" mods, just means that the official Mods are doing a poor job at keeping the site clean, as well as each sub-section in order.

I feel there are different levels of backseat moderation. Reporting post and giving detail information in the report is enough in my opinion. Making a post and informing users of rules is too much, especially citing specifics. Just let the individual take the consequence of their actions. Granted I've trolled a couple backseat moderators by citing rules to be funny. The only real place I could see backseat moderation being viable is the shoutbox, as far I know the archives are still broke/non-existent so taking snapshots of some cheeky kunt spamming and then directly reporting them to a mod is understandable.

In all honesty it's case-by-case. On the forums reporting the post(s) is more than enough.

You already know my views on this. Besides, much of the time, mods just trash the thread/ban the user without the user ever realizing what he did wrong. I reported a warez thread to a mod...think it was Hammy, and the user's thread was trashed. The user was never notified about what he did wrong. The fact that I had to tell him that he broke a rule, instead of a mod telling him so, only enforces my point.

We have the report system, which you can report threads about users breaking rules and such. We don't need users "back seating" moderating since 1. it would look like spam, 2. Not staff, 3. staff would let them know the rules and we are constantly updated about rule changes while some users didnt even read the rules for months and are enforcing something that doesn't exist or is disallowed...
