First off he speaks about how the industry has shifted towards the promise of a finished product over being finished. With many titles now getting day one patching to fix issues or improve the title on release. Games like halo have required patching before you can even find an online game.
Blend of single and multiplayer experiences has made the problem even worse with some elements not working due to the release day traffic. Stress testing may offer the answer with it being the normal thing for all titles.

In my view, this whole topic could be expanded with what service based games means. He is right a new normal with stress testing needs to be done but much more than that is required.
Curious what you guys think, do you believe we need more testing along with changes to the service based design.

Never played NES games? Some were beyond broken. Seems companies are more worried about day 1 dlc rather than a day 1 working game.

Don't Believe The Title
I do think more testing would not go a miss but also thinking about all the new features and Multiplayer intgration nowadays there is more stuff to go wrong and normally the worst possible things fail, like connection issues etc.

I believe older games still had their fair share of issues but it was less obvious unless you looked for them, now it is obvious to a lot of people but I am sure games like San Andreas had bugs. 1 For example is that if you had used a lot of cheats (which were very hilarious to use) before a certain mission far into the game then it broke. Making it incompleteable.

it seperates bad devs from good devs especially when they actually fix them instead of adding more so people forgot like ubisoft and rockstar
