(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I'm bound to get groaned for this, and I'm not usually one to support conspiracy theories, but what I have to ask is a valid question, just about. xD

If Sony really was hacked & had all this private data 'stolen' from them, over the period of 5 months, how did they not notice something was going on?
Pulling terabytes of data isn't going to be invisible, sure you can be as stealthy as possible by downloading the data slowly & keeping an eye on what's going on, but surely a company like Sony would have people watching all activity on their servers no matter how insignificant of activity it may be, seeing as they're a high profile business & would be a dream target for hackers.

That's what makes me think there's a lot more to this than they're letting on. Perhaps somebody inside the company is behind this? You'd think if it was somebody low down in the chain, they'd call him on it. That makes me think that if it's somebody inside Sony, it's probably somebody high up.. Maybe Kim Jong Un wearing a fake mustache?

However, if Sony were hacked, and slowly had data stolen from them over the period of five months, this picture very much describes how I imagine Sony's security works...

(sorry for the Seth Rogen related image, tiny bit of irony..)

Same can be said for credit card numbers being stolen. You would think it would be noticed but it just flies under the radar till something actually makes someone look for something.

If a bank is being robbed one cent at a time over a period of years do you think somebody going to notice or put it down to a rounding error?

Often the case with cyber crime you don't notice it until the attack has been going on for months or over. Security experts are unsure the FBI press release is correct, some doubt going around. Some people believe it was an insider job and a group of skilled hackers behind it from a major crime gang. Style of attack was first seen in 2012 software is known to be sold around the market.

Fair point.

I'm thinking more and more that it was either an inside job, or just some group of hackers.
If it was just some group of hackers, they may not even have any political motivation to remove the film, they may just have wanted to attack Sony & steal the data that's been stolen, and used the film as a decoy. And let's face it, it's an excellent decoy given the nature of the film & the current political climate.

Actually, I think quite a lot of people suspect it was a past employee with a good knowledge of the network that carried out the hack. That or Sony really is just shit at network security.

Most people think it a mix of the two.
Poor security measures with a past employee helping.
