As world leaders pay respects to the late king, something was shared on social media from a memoir.
Memoir of former Saudi ambassador Sherard Cowper-Coles’s has some interesting details from a 1998 visit to the UK.
King Abdullah was a prince at the time visiting the UK, after lunch the Queen invited him to tour the estate.
Initially hesitant he agreed to the tour of the estate group of Royal land rovers pulled up outside. Prince got into the front seat of a car waiting on the Queen to hop in the back seat with a male driver.
Queen Elizabeth II however got into the drivers seat and set off, her experience when it comes to driving is quite high given how she used to drive trucks with the Army. Her skills even that age are still rather good and the prince was shocked how quickly she was driving even enjoying the whole experience.
Women are not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia not even royal female members can drive a car.
Prince was rather nervous at how fast she was driving asked his interpreter to tell her to slow down and concentrate.
Narrow Scottish estate roads can be scary and even worse when you're not used to a women driver.
