(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Right so let me cut to the chase: I want to gain weight.

I am 17 years old, I currently weigh around 8st9lb/8st11lb (it fluctuates a lot) and I am 5ft10.

Now, I want to put on weight but honestly nothing works. I am intolerant to fish (shellfish, fresh water fish, salt water fish or whatever... Everything fish basically) and also intolerant to Cane Sugar. Which is where my first problem arises.

I am addicted to sugar. My pancreas isn't taking enough sugar in, I don't know why but the Doctor basically said that the sugar levels rise and drop too quickly for the pancreas to even notice the rise in sugar. So I get tired. My tiredness leads to a insane lack of motivation.

As for my weight, I went roughly 2 months of eating nothing but Steaks, Potatoes, Cous Cous, Avocados... You know, all the healthy protein stuff. My weight goes up a fraction, then I go to sleep and the next morning I've either lost all that I put on OR I have lost even more than I put on. I don't know why and I don't know how I can stop (or slow down) this process.

I want to gain weight not only to eventually look good by doing calisthenics - but I want to but an end to my anxiety. I hate my body BECAUSE I know everyone else hates it. I am skinny, I don't feel 'sexy', and my girl says she doesn't mind it but like... She's a girl. Every girl wants a hunky guy.

So please, NGU, give me some advice. (And if you don't have any advice but are in (or have outlived) a similar situation) please feel more than welcome to share it.

Thank you all.

Um, I was greatly confused by your weight specifically the units. You used stone, yes? So you'd be in the 121lb-123lb range, which is unbelievably skinning, like anorexic skinny considering you're 5ft10in. As for the ability to get big, or the lack thereof, you're not eating to get big. If anything it sounds like you're not even eating enough to maintain your weight.

Thankfully, it sounds like you've been eating great foods and attempting to meet your macros. However you're not eating enough, you need to be consuming a lot. I did some quick figuring to find out your basal metabolic rate, and by the figures you've given it'd roughly be 1592 calories/day. For a decent bulk you would need to intake about 2161 calories/day, 20% from protein, 60% from carbohydrates, 20% from fats. This should be achievable if you consume enough food, however it sounds like you don't even eat enough to maintain your current weight. Calorie wise that would be around 1911.

So I'd recommend the following; cut out the sugar. As Jack LaLanne said, "If it tastes good, spit it out." Eat more, that's pretty simple. All you have to do is buy more food, and eat more. The goal is to get big, so eat big but healthy. Seeing how you aren't maintaining get some whey protein (I highly recommend Optimum Nutrition), make some protein shakes to aid in filling macros. Basically you want to achieve one gram of protein per pound of body weight per day, two grams of carbohydrates per pound of body weight per day, and one gram of healthy fats per three pounds of body weight per day. It's basic, it's realistic, and highly achievable. As for right now, I'd highly recommend focusing on getting your diet right. Google meals, count calories, keep track of everything you eat and what's in them, write it down in a diet journal, be proactive. Slowly integrate calisthenics after you get your diet right.

If you plan on going to the gym and plan on getting serious about bodybuilding then go all in.

Depends on if you're a manlet or not, like if you're 5ft2" you're probably fine.

Because some people have severe anxiety because of the way they look.

I want to gain weight and then after time, build muscle. Simply to get myself into the habit of eating bigger, healthier meals.

Gaining weight doesn't mean being fat.

Most of the tips contain glycemic foods/drinks, and for me, I am addicted to it so once I drink it, I need to keep drinking it otherwise I get tired.

As far as working out is concerned, being tired isn't exactly helpful. (Unless I read the article incorrectly)
