"As part of a strategic decision to rationalize the business, Daybreak Game Company announced today that it will eliminate positions in both its San Diego and Austin studios. This alignment of resources better positions the newly independent studio for future growth opportunities and developments, including delivering on its legacy of making top online games and establishing a solid foundation for future multi-platform success. These reductions will not affect the operation of current games and the company will continue on its mission to partner with its player community to drive the future and push the boundaries of online gaming."

Senior talent along with former prominent employees are on the list with director of development, director of global community relations. Lead designer behind EverQuest also lost his job, no news on which other lead games development designers lost their jobs.

Interesting article. Quite frankly, I think that it is sad that those men/women lost their jobs after (I am sure) all the time they have contributed to the industry. Luckily, they have the knowledge and skills to step their foot into another well paying job.

Matthew Higby has resigned from the studio, he was the creative director for Planetside 2. He said it was the right opportunity to leave the company due to the reorganization.
Producer David Carey and technical director Ryan Elam also leaving the company but did not publicly state so.
