(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Sega has recently released financial details in it recent earnings call with investors.
Numbers are not pretty for the company who had quite a rough couple of years.
9 months into the year fiscal year -12% net sales, -65% operating income and -24% net income.
Company staple series Football manager also suffered from declines with 100K less compared to 2014 so far.
Sonic boom the latest reboot to the series performance is the worse the series has seen. Both games Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal selling just 490K total.
Alien Isolation was a success with 1.76m sales.
Predicted sales across the board have been cut with 3DS titles expected to bring in 1 million less.

Result has been the company starting to restructure the business. With almost a 25% increase in development spending you can see the sales numbers are not appearing. Company is now moving towards mobile and PC games over just focus on console games. 300 Staff have been offered early retirement with the company streamlining packaged game software operations. Merchandising businesses with PC and mobile seen as growth areas.

Backdrop Sonic has been a dying animal which Sega does not want to let die. As somebody who first game I can remember was Sonic sad to see Sonic boom fail and Sega being forced to reboot the title. Sega should in my eyes put the series to bed company can't let go of Sonic with company suffering from lack of new ideas across the board for titles. Sonic just does not fit into the gaming landscape. We not had a good Sonic game in years.

Sega is no longer a big player in the gaming world due to mismanagement and lack of risk taking.
Shame because the company used to be full of great ideas.
