(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I personally don't see how these forums can recover to the point that everyone refers to as the "good days".
It would be nice if it did, because then I would feel a purpose among these forums - however, lack of activity makes it hard to create an engaging thread or to even simply make friends.
What are your views on this lack of activity, and do you think NGU will ever return to its great state that it once was in?

The "Good old days" you wouldnt know as you joined in FEb 2015.... but they were good were cod4 "hacking" was cool the big names used to be here... but now its died down and the final few oldies (myself included) still come here.

I know I wouldn't know them, but I wish I did. COD4 was the best!

It really depends on what your interests are. If you are still into the stuff that was popular back then (game wise) then yea I can see it being dead in that aspect. Things change, people come and go. As far as general activity goes, that's not really an issue. There are always discussions going on in the forums.

No offence but how do you know about old days with 2015 join date, do you have an old account? NextGenUpdate isn't dead by far, over 1.5k+ users on at once most of the day/night.

Just to again clarify, I didn't say I myself know the old days. I said people refer to them as "the good old days", and I know for a fact that most of the sub forums were more active back then due to scrolling through the forums and never registering.

Apologies for anyone who believed I was talking about myself knowing about the old days.

Things have definitely changed, but we're far from, or anywhere close to, dead. In fact, this month we hit a milestone we haven't hit since March of 2011(!) which is 10,000 users active in a day. We definitely need a spark here and some creative thinking, but we're not dead, we're just getting started Smile

Wow, thanks for replying to this thread man!

I think that being active isn't the same as being a valued member of the forums... For example, I could be active for months and never make a thread or even comment on a thread.
That seems, to me, to be the problem that this forum faces and someone needs to create an idea to engage users who perhaps are active but don't contribute as much as they potentially could. Just my 2 cents, feel free to respond Smile Peace.

I agree that NGU will most likely never be like how it used to be but that's for many reasons beyond our control; one of the main reasons is because the modding scene has changed drastically, the period where NGU and even other modding forums blew up is the same period when PS3 modding and the PS3 jailbreak method was released to the public. Before that, only two people in the world were able to hack/mod the PS3, so of course when these methods and mods were available to everyone the scene exploded! New scripts, codes, edits, patches, mods, exploits.. Was a daily thing almost.

The fact that the scene has changed and faded so much over the years is nothing we can control, and we are finding new exploits all the time and there are always going to be new exploits and mods but this forum was most famous for PS3 modding back in those times, that's where most of the members came from.

Even though this is a general gaming forum you can't deny the fact that that is the time period when NGU blew the fuck up and thousands of members were joining every week, I honestly believe NGU has died down a little bit because the modding has slowed down and a lot of the forum is about general and legit gaming and other things (which isn't a bad thing at all) and NGU is still a place to make friends and interact. McCoy

This forum will always be great, maybe not as active and alive as it used to be but it will never die and compared to most forums NGU is no doubt one of the best and probably always will be.
