(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); California-based firm OnLive is shutting down the service and the company after selling massive file of patents to Sony.
Patent deal could see improvements to Playstation Now or Sony is protecting from lawsuits.
Details are not public and unlikely to be made public.

OnLive worked by allowing users to play video games which are hosted on a cloud server. Streaming the game to your device very much like Playstation Now. OnLive was the first company to jump into this market sadly failed. Company found it hard to get games on to the service and keep people paying with performance also being a problem.
Unknown how many paying customers the service had at this time.

Back in 2012 the company was sold off to venture capital firm after reaching $40 million worth of debt. Most of the staff lost their jobs with the company scaling back and refocusing.

Shame the company was not able to become a success but game streaming is here to stay with Sony and Nvidia offering services.
